Here's what Svenson says about himself: "I started playing drums when I was 12 years old at my hometown St-Niklaas. Back then I already was a huge fan of Depeche Mode. Let’s call this my first true love. A bit later I got my first drumcomputer and syntheseizer. I was ready to make songs and dreamt of my own complete state of the art studio, but hey, you’ve got to start from scratch, as we all had to do. I found all those knobs really fascinating and soon I made my first tracks. It wasn’t till my 18th birthday that I played in a band called “Mea Culpa”, we were a strange combination of musicians with all our very different influences. One of our major achievement was reaching the semi finals of Humo’s Rock Rally. That’s how I got discovered by Geert Blanchart (former Belgian Champion Shorttrack). He heared us playing live and afterwards introduced me to a good friend of his, Oliver Adams (Lords Of Acid, Praga Khan, ...) He was very interested and gave me the opportunity to work with him in his studio. That’s how I taught a lot of the technical things of producing records. At this studio I made tracks for “L.A. Style, Charlie Lownoise & Mental Theo,...” Later Oliver introduced me to Roland Beelen from the recordcompany Antler Subway, where I signed my first fixed contract. That’s where I met Johan Gielen. Our first production together “Bodyheat – Gonna make You feel” was a club-hit in Holland. As seemed later, a succesfull partnership was born. Because Johan was already an excellent DJ back then, he got the opportunity to go and play in Japans most popular club “Velfare” That’s how I start my first solo track under the name “Svenson”. The first release under that name was “Let me take you on a trip” . Later that year I produced some tracks for “Milk Inc.”, which scored a couple of big hits in France. After Johan’s Japanese adventure we decided to continue making music together under the name “Airscape”. “Pacific Melody and l’Esperanza” have become classics under that name. More and more we focused on the English market. That’s how we got to do remixes for Boy George, Chicane, Praga Khan, Dario G, Vanessa Mae, Safri Duo, Tiësto,... Our biggest Remix-hit up till now is without doubt “Delerium Feat. Sarah McLachlan – Silence”... We also made a couple of tracks for the hitproject “Alice DJ” whereof the single “The lonley one”. After my contract with Antler Subway I decided to go on as a freelance producer, we got in contact with Dick De Groot from ID&T and our first co-operation was a huge succes: “Svenson & Gielen – The Beauty of Silence”. “Twisted” became the biggest Svenson & Gielen hit so far. We both received a Golden record for that. After years of co-operation with Johan Gielen, we decided that it was time for us both to do some things solo. This doensn’t mean that we stop our collaboration, we’re still close friends and it will remain that way, it just seemed to be interresting and inspiring to do some solo projects. That’s how the idea arised to make a couple of new Svenson tracks. First solo release with ID&T was “Svenson – Sunlight Theory”. It became Theme From Trance Energy 2004 and it was a big top 20 hit in Holland." Read more on Last.fm.
