Nine artists: 1) Dato' Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmad, also known as SHAKE and Dato Shake, was a very popular Malaysian singer in the 1980s Malay music scene. 2) Alias for Detroit producer Anthony "Shake" Shakir who is one of the more underrecognized, underappreciated names in American techno. A bedroom producer since 1981, Shake had an important role in helping shape the early Motor City sound associated with artists such as Juan Atkins / Model 500 and Derrick May. He worked with May and Carl Craig as a producer, writer, or engineer on several early tracks on Metroplex, and worked in management and A&R for the label (as well, he's often joked, as being the janitor) during its formative years. His first solo material appeared on Virgin's seminal Techno! The New Dance Sound Of Detroit compilation with 'Sequence 10'. Known as something of a techno purist, Shake has distanced himself from the European scene many of his colleagues have turned to for support (this accounts somewhat for his continuing obscurity), and his music is stylistically closer to second wave artists such as "Mad Mike" Banks and Claude Young — hard, stripped-down tracks which owe equally to techno, electro, hip-hop, and funk. Shake's visibility and reputation have risen in more recent years as a result of his Frictional and Puzzlebox labels, the latter of which he formed in 1996 with fellow Detroit electro / techno producer Keith Tucker (formerly of Aux 88). Releasing a series of records both solo and in combination (usually under the name Da Sampla), Shake and Tucker's Puzzlebox Records has, along with Underground Resistance and Guidance Recordings, become one of the more coveted sources of straight-up, no-bones Detroit techno. 3) Japanese J-Pop group formed in Tokyo, Japan. Mai Sakura, Maimi Fujita and Nao Miyazawa make up the trio of singers that credit Hirokazu Ito as the composer of both their first and second self-titled albums (SHAKE Vol.1 and SHAKE Vol.2, respectively). Their first album, SHAKE Vol.1 was released August 19th, 2009. 4) Spanish soft rock psychedelic band. Alberto Montero (guitar and vovals), Victor Hernandez (Bass), Jorge Castillo (Drums) y Carlos Cuesta (Guitar) recorded the first and only record at the moment, "Let me wear the morning Sun", in 2005. The band it's now recording the second album in studio. 5) Two-piece garage/shoegazer act based in Boston, MA. Shannon Barker (drums/baritone guitar) and Mike Hiltz (guitar/vox) combine elements of garage rock, shoegazer, and noise pop. Debuting with 2004's "Instant Record" EP, they're now working on a second full-length album. 6) Swedish dancehall band http://www.shakeweb.se/ 7) A Mexican psytrance formation. 8) 80s punk from Scotland. After The Rezillos disbanded, guitarist Callis, bassist Templar and drummer Paterson formed Shake with Troy Tate (who would go on to join The Teardrop Explodes), releasing an EP and two singles (the latter single under the name Jo Callis/S.H.A.K.E. Project). 9.) SHAKE was a band formed by Dave Alpert that played the Boston/Cambridge music scene and garnered significant airplay (mostly on WBOS, WFNX and the original WBCN) around the beginning of the 21st century until his passing in the summer of 2014.
