There are multiple artists/groups called Rod.
1. ROD is the newborn alter-ego of Rotterdam based Benny Rodrigues, currently one of the most popular and inspiring electronic music artists of the Netherlands. Known for his ver-satility, Benny has chosen this additional artist name to clearly define the more Techno oriented side of his musical identity. ROD's critically acclaimed debut-release "Malmok" was released on Ben Klock's Klock-works label and formed the start of a fruitful discog that reads very positively received re-leases on various renowned labels such as Chris Liebing's CLR Recordings and Richie Hawtin's M_nus Records.
2. An annual danish folk ensemble called ROD, consisting of young musicians playing traditional, contemporary, and experimental folk tunes. The project has existed since 1995, and takes place every Easter.
3. Rod is a bona fide musician, electronic or otherwise and has been playing synths as long as he’s been able to walk. His deep affair with music stemmed from an early love of electronic landscapes and the machines that created them.
In his teens Rod began writing and producing hard breakbeat, a style that was to eventually mellow as his own taste in music broadened. His focus shifting to the subtle melodics and nuances of hip-hop and psychedelic rock.
He has been making music quietly in his home studio for over 10 years, while also playing hammond organ with various bands; his own music only recently appearing on various compilations from record labels such as Neo Ouija, Underscan & Front End Synthetics. He is currently working on his first full length solo debut.
Rod is currently getting huge responses from all over the place for the title track of his new EP "All My Love" which appeared some time ago on the Neo Ouija compilation titled "Vestibule and Separate". In conjunction with German electronic lable Underscan, we are now making the track available on both 12" & CD for the first time.
4. The French artist called Rod:
Well, he was born in Orleans (the old one) in 1971, learned guitar at 15 but never was a hard worker, smoked at 17 and re-discovered the Beatles, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix with his first psychedelic group: Wired. After they split, he made his own album where he could do whatever he wants. This was Noises In My Head, recorded more than ten years ago. After two more bands were set up and split, he turned to the technical side of the music but he strongly think about making a second one.
