There are multiple artists that perform under the name "ZG" 1. Zack Gaddis from US. 2. Electronic producer from Turkey 1. Zack “ZG” Gaddis was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Adopted as an infant, he grew up in a Christian background; dad being a pastor and his mother owning a daycare. Growing up in a dominant sports family, music wasn’t as popular for Zackary. Basketball was on his mind as he practiced day in and day out, battling family friends and the unknown for “King of the Court”. 7th grade of Jr. High was the year ZG found out he enjoyed more than just listening to music. “Joining show choir that year was an eye opener to the talents God gave me”, said Zack. He was the laughing stock to his peers in the process of the “awkward” stage in life. “Show choir wasn’t your typical ‘African American male’ source of entertainment, Ha Ha”, said ZG of his 7th-9th grade show choir memory. Before young Zackary would continue being the laughing stock of his peers any longer, he dropped out of show choir to pursue a basketball career in High School. The pressure of youth in the high school stage is a lot about acceptance, as we all know (those of us old enough to remember our high school days). His next step was to follow the traditions of family and friends. “My uncle’s, my siblings, my mother; they all played basketball in their day. So I thought, ‘why not’”, said ZG on his high school basketball career. Zack Gaddis went on to hold the school record for most 3 pointers in one game (8) at Carl Albert high school, his hometown high school. As a sophomore and Junior, he started on the high school level basketball team. Senior year was the year his heart changed. Zack said, “My mom asked me, going into my senior year of high school, if I was really never going to do show choir again. I told her no, it’s embarrassing! Faking this energy, putting on a mask of joy when really I was afraid of what people would call me. So that thought stuck in my head until enrollment.” Senior year of High school, Zackary decided to drop his pride and join show choir for his last year, thinking ‘hey, why not’. His thoughts on joining show choir one more time were: “Wow…words cannot describe that feeling. It’s like finding an old game system that you only got to play for a short amount of time. I missed it more than I knew. Everyone seemed to enjoy me being there. Zack Gaddis, the basketball player joining show choir.” As the days grew short for his high school career, the more passion for music he began to have. “I ended up saving my lunch money to buy a cheap mp3 player with a mic so I could record music”, said ZG. Graduating high school he accepted the offer of McPherson College for a basketball scholarship, sending Zackary on his way to McPherson Kansas. His passion for music remained as he instantly met a fellow Oklahoman on the basketball team at McPherson, Jared Stevenson. “He was literally the 1st person I talked to at Mac. His hospitality was off the charts while introducing me to the Sports Center (McPherson Sports building)”, said ZG about his now brother in Christ, Jared Stevenson (JA). Zack and Jared begin to grow in fellowship while living the cycle of the college life. Jared introduced ZG to his first recording software; Magix Music Maker Basic Edition, in 2007. Zack said, “Man that recording program was the beginning of my music career right there. I bought a wal mart mic, some wal mart speakers and found out about soundclick.com for free DL instrumentals. It was on!” After the struggles of his first year of college, ZG got a summer vacation. “My 1st year was great and terrible. I did a lot of things I wasn’t proud of, and a lot of things right”, say’s Zackary about his 1st year of college. Amazing things happened while he went home for the summer of 2008, right before his sophomore year of college. Jesus became real to him. “My dad was preaching a sermon, just like he did every Wednesday and Sunday. But this time was different. I’m not too sure what went on. I mean I always believed in God, but the lifestyle that I lived didn’t prove my belief nor love for God. I was convicted of sin.” Soon after Zackary changed his life for the Lord, the battle began. For a short season, he stopped making music for and about women, and begin to make music for and about the Lord. His 1st unofficial album came the summer of 2008 entitled C.O.G (Child of God). “People really anticipated that album. It was my 1st. Well, I had one in 07, but that didn’t count. It wasn’t for God”, said ZG. Coming back to McPherson for his 2nd year, the faith returned for about a month. “I was your typical Christian. Following God all out for a season, then wavering in the faith. I had no help. No mentor I could talk to that lived the lifestyle I wanted to live”, said ZG about the 1st months of his 2nd year of College. Zackary began to change. For the worse. He ran from the Lord, ran from his calling. He used his gifts as a means to get women and not using his gifts to bring God glory. His 2nd year of college went downhill from then on. Junior year, 1st semester, was the same exact way. ZG said, “The Lord spoke through me in a different way this time. A lot of believers I knew found Christ out of tragic experiences. I found Christ for good out of an opportunity to make music for him, from one of favorite artists.” Cam, a native of Oklahoma City, was and is one of Zackary’s favorite artists. This Rhythm and Praise singer has been on the charts for almost 6 or 7 years now; touring with all of 116 (Before Pro, KB and Andy Mineo), doing shows across the states. “I grew up listening to Cam”, said ZG. “He was my motivation in writing music.” ZG’s opportunity was from Reggie Ganther of 778. He received a Facebook message from Reggie, thanking him for his witness to his sisters back when ZG was in high school. Then Reggie offered ZG a shot at letting his gift be heard across Oklahoma City. Zackary took that offer, but his lifestyle stayed the same. He was born again in December of 2009, going home for Christmas break to see family and friends. God did such a work in his heart, completely transforming him from the man he was to the man he is still becoming today. Holiness. Godliness. Spiritual Leadership. Those are just a few of ZG’s characters (not putting him on a pedal stool). Today, he is serving the Lord strong now since 09. “This road is tough, following Jesus Christ, denying the flesh…But it’s worth it”, said ZG. His EP “Here Now”, with Beat Politician’s leader D-Flow and fellow brother in Christ Jared Stevenson will be out sometime in 2012. He promises to keep us updated. 2. ZG, bedroom producer from Turkey.
