The now 24 year old young man started producing electronic music at the age of 14, a professional DJ at age 16, and his first record release at age 17. Not bad considering that he is from one of the most difficult places to become established: Detroit. Kris learned the trade, as it were, from seasoned veterans of the old school Detroit scene, playing countless warehouses, clubs, bars, etc, from such a young age. The nostalgia heard in his work and DJ sets is a direct result from years of exposure to the original sounds of Detroit, Chicago, New York, and European artists. An avid listener and crate digger at age 12, Kris is well versed in all types of music: Jazz, funk, R'n'B, classic Hip Hop, etc... All of these influences can be heard almost instantly upon listening to his work.
Always looking forward, with critics and fans labeling his work with such phrases as "instant classic," "far ahead of it's time", as well as being acclaimed and praised by some of the biggest names on the planet. His work on Morris/Audio is overwhelmingly supported by Akufen, Josh Wink, Laurent Garnier, Peace Division, etc... With more than his fair share, (6 EPs and counting), of releases and remixes, in 2008 alone; Kris is being labeled as "surely soon to be hugely popular" by one of Resident Advisor's top critics. "Masterful," "idiomatic," timeless," "classic", words that make for a exceptional artist who's dedication and love for this music nearly precedes his own work.
As a DJ, Kris Wadsworth takes a refreshing approach as well. Not concerned with how new something is, or who plays it, Kris plays what makes a dance floor sweat. Period. No fancy tricks, no nerdy pretentiousness, just straight-forward dance music. it doesn't matter if it is '91 or 2091, if it is good dance music, it gets played. Always deep, always keeping you guessing. A firm believer that this is dance music.
The future is bright for this young cat, getting bookings in the hottest cities in the world right out of the gate. As it stands, Kris Wadsworth will be a name in heavy rotation the world over for many years to come.
