Last FM Information on Terry Toner

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
Terry Toner is a young and energetic DJ, producer and remixer – at the moment one of the main underground house talents in the Dutch electronic music scene. In spite of his young age he accomplished a lot and dj-ed alongside alltime heroes like; Jeff Mills, Fat Boy Slim, Sander Kleinenberg, Tiefschwarz, Tiga, Plump Dj’s, Dave Clarke and a lot more. Terry got infected by electronic music at the young age of 10, when his nephew introduced him to the early nineties German rave sound. He was instantly hooked and there was no way back. It took him five more years to actually visit his first rave and see dj’s play in real life. This experience had such an impact on him that he bought his first turntables and aspired to become a DJ himself. His first proper break came several years ago when ElectroNation’s Roy Avni recognized this young talent after receiving a mix tape of the 19-year-old Terry which he made with his high school buddy Arter. Due to the overwhelming amount of reactions after their first gig they were given a monthly residency in Club Winston in Amsterdam. From this moment on, everything went skyhigh. He became one of Electronation’s main residents and joined their organization. After a while, he was playing at almost every major club in Holland and the next summer he would play at the first rave he’d ever visited… Dancevalley. “I remember the first time I was planning to go to a rave. I was nervous as I stood in the queue to get in. The loud music, which you could already hear from far away, gave me an exciting and unknown feeling. I experienced the same sensation five minutes before my first gig at Dancevalley. Call me sentimental but it felt really special to be standing in the same spot as my first rave, only this time as a DJ. It was truly an amazing experience. Luckily everything went well and since then, I have always been looking forward to playing there” - Terry. Through ElectroNation, Terry has gained lots of respect and developed his style to what it is today. His sound flows through all levels of house, laced with jackin’ grooves, tech-styled beats and electroflavoured synths. This combined with his love for oldskool acid gives him his energetic and uplifting sound. After developing his producing skills for a while he put it into practice two years ago and remixed the chart topper ‘We can’t get enough’ by Laidback Luke on United Records. Due to the mainstream appeal of the original, his remix got a lot of attention and inspired him to focus on producing as well. His second release ‘I’m a Scientist’, an uplifting electrohouse tune, received great response. Within weeks it became tune of the week on both ID&T radio and Kink FM, two of Holland’s main radio stations. It resulted in lots of airplay and the track even appeared on the ElectroNation compilation CD and the Notv DVD project. Lately he started his new TonerStylo project, which shows a more minimalistic and mechanical side of him. With this alter ego he explores the deeper and more abstract side of the electronic spectrum, without losing sight of the dancefloor. For the upcoming period, you can expect more remixes and tunes coming your way. In 2004, as Terry’s profile began to gain momentum, he established an impressive list of gigs; Ministry of Sound (London) with Sander Kleinenberg, Big Beat Boutique@Turnmills alongside Fat Boy Slim in the UK, official after dj of the Kraftwerk concert in Holland, for Fesh@333 in London, pay&go groovecity in Belgium and Snowbombing in Austria. Plus gigs at Encompass, Dancevalley, Impulz Outdoor, Awakenings, Lowlands, Innercity and of course his main residency at ElectroNation. As if this wasn’t enough, Terry has recently been asked to co-host a monthly radio show on Kink FM, where he plays his latest and best tracks. The show obviously reflects his music style as a Dj but also as a music loving person. So stay tuned, check his website for updates and keep up with the ride! The coming fall and winter, Terry will be playing at the renowned Ministry of Sound in London, Groovecity in Belgium, Innercity in Amsterdam, Indonesia, Miami, Ukraine, Turkey and with his ongoing residency at ElectroNation you can be assured that he won’t be standing still.
