1960 Jazz / HArd Bop LP Repressed On 180 gram vinyl LP with obi-strip -

The Original Jazz Classics Series turns its attention here to the one and only Miles Davis, who worked with his quintet for the boldly titled Workin' With The Miles Davis Quintet album. This period back in the mid-50s was a halcyon one for Davis and jazz and for that reason the band is often called one of the best in jazz history. Alongside Davis on his trusty trumpet, John Coltrane was on tenor sax, with piano from Red Garland, Paul Chambers on bass and Philly Joe Jones on the sticks. This new version of this classic record has been remastered from original analogue tapes and been pressed to 180g vinyl so its sounds superb.

Last FM Information on The Miles Davis Quintet

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
There were two Miles Davis Quintets. The first, bebop quintet, was active during the years 1955-1957. It consisted of Miles Davis, saxophonist John Coltrane, bassist Paul Chambers, drummer Philly Joe Jones and pianist Red Garland. This group also dabbled a few years more, but eventually faded as Miles reformed the group. The second was the new Miles Davis Quintet, commonly known as Miles’s “Second Great Quintet”. This group included all new members: saxophonist Wayne Shorter, bassist Ron Carter, drummer Tony Williams, and pianist Herbie Hancock. Albums included Miles Smiles, ESP, Nefertiti and reissues such as The Complete Concert 1964 (George Coleman rather than Shorter), Miles in Berlin and the compilation The Best of the Miles Davis Quintet 1965-1968. The Second Great Quintet disbanded around early 1968. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
