If where a musician comes from inevitably influences their music, that's doubly the case with John Talabot's instalment of !K7's renowned DJ-Kicks mix series. "I wanted to do something special", explains the Barcelona based DJ. "I thought that it would be good if people could discover what my influences are, where I've come from, the people that I admire and tracks that have been important to me over the last ten years, plus some tracks on my label that have never been released." The result is a mix steeped in Talabot's home town, the clubs he went to growing up, the music he heard, the sound he's gone on to craft with his own productions and take to the world.

His DJ-Kicks mix takes it back to the beginning, where it all began. There are obscurities such as ‘I Love’ by Paradise’s Deep Groove, a moody, bass-driven deep house track from 1992. "Those are tracks that are part of my history as a DJ, things that I discovered going to club nights in Barcelona

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
John Talabot is a youngster from Barcelona, Spain with a rather special way of approaching music. His influences range from flamenco to northern soul, from African music to traditional Asian songs. His first commercial effort on German label Permanent Vacation included the A side "Afrika" plus another two tracks,"Naomi” and “Korlee” . Shortly after (June 2009), "Sunshine" debuted via Talabot's own label Hivern. "Sunshine" resurfaced on a limited blue vinyl with mixes by Delorean and Blondes (May 2010) after the original made it to Pitchfork's best new music of their 2009 list. At the same time Permanent Vacation launched his second release for the label: “Matilda’s Dream” 2011 saw the release of a four track EP, "Families", via Young Turks. The title track features vocals by Glasser. His first artist album, "ƒin", was released in 2012 and it contained eleven new tracks, featuring Pional and Ekhi. In 2013 a DJ Kicks album compiled by Talabot was released. It contained two new Talabot tracks, "Without You" and "Sideral", a collaboration with Axel Boman. http://soundcloud.com/john-talabot Read more on Last.fm.
