Last FM Information on Soy Mustafa

Monikers: S2000 Soy Mustafa is a DJ, producer and the label head of both Cinematic and Shack Music. Drawing influence from Detroit’s current overlords to visionary instrumentalists from bygone decades, his focus rests on forward thinking house music that captures the visceral spirit of techno. From Turkish Cypriot descent and growing up in 80’s Tottenham, Soy was exposed to a rich melting point of different cultures from an early age. Yet it was the era’s pirate radiobroadcasts and futuristic film scores that first cemented the inquisitive teenagers interest in music. Having reached his early-twenties, the young Londoner was well versed in the house scene owing to pirate broadcasts from the late Kenny Hawkes and Luke Soloman on Girls FM. This dedicated interest soon manifested in Soy taking up DJ residencies in the clubs of postmillennial Shoreditch, before broadening his reach with regular appearances on pirate radio stations such as Y2k, Touch and House FM. By now firmly immersed in the East London’s emerging cultural scene, late-2004 saw the arrival of his deep house label Shack Music and within 6 months the imprint had delivered 2 sought-after EPs, with another half-a-dozen in the pipeline. It was at this stage, the North Londoner decided it was finally time to put his years of theory into practice and began programing beat patterns on an old drum machine while gradually introducing an array of secondhand hardware. By 2006, Soy had formed the collaborative house mantle ‘Kemistry’ with his friend Alex Celler. Promptly signed to Soul Heaven Records for a self-titled EP, the pair were soon releasing on the higher profile NRK imprint. With Industry heads turning, Soy an Alex were then commissioned to remix Rodamaal’s anthem ‘Insomnia’ and then NUfrequency’s modern classic ‘Go That Deep’ featuring Shara Nelson of Massive Attack fame. Two years on, in the wake of this success, a decision was made to channel all the achievements and experiences of the past decade into a second creative outlet. This resulted in the birth of the Cinematic label. Since its inception, the label has steadily built up a global community of boundary-pushing electronic producers including Kirk Degiorgio, Fumihiro Hoshi, Johannes Volk, Brendan Gregoriy, Patrice Scott, Matt Flores, John Tejada and John Beltran. Within this period, Soy has not only delivered a raft of revered solo compositions including ‘Return of the Anunnaki’, ‘Bipolars Revenge, but he’s also explored new directions under the alias S2000 via remixes. His productions to date have been championed by a raft of influential pioneers such as Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, Loco Dice, Dennis Ferrer, Âme, Joris Voorn and Sasha to name only a few. In addition to this success as a producer, Soy has continued to DJ, with the demand for his high-energy and emotive sets allowing him to travel the World. Meanwhile, he continues to support a fertile hotbed of forward-thinking creatives. Read more on Last.fm. Last FM Information on John Tejada

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
Los Angeles DJ and producer Tejada (born in Vienna, Austria on April 21, 1974) has been releasing techno since the early '90s, often finding himself lumped alongside Detroit techno maverick Matthew Dear. These days, expanding on his formidable resume, Tejada creates ethereal electronic jangle and harmonies (think Depeche Mode dream pop and the classic songwriting of Johnny Marr) that complement each other and offer a good reason for living. California-based John Tejada is easily one of the most productive DJ/producers in modern dance music. While most of his colleagues work on establishing a signature sound within one specific genre, John Tejada works in all genres simultaneously. Whether house, techno, electronica or drum & bass, every scene gets something from this multitalent, and Tejada manages to move within each field as if it were his own. Recently he surprised everyone by revealing yet another facet to his already impressive ability: he released an album on the Berlin label City Centre Offices with Japanese guitarist Takeshi Nishimoto, under the project name "I'm Not a Gun". The album impressively demonstrated that Tejada can make a place for himself in post-rock circles as well, mixing electronic and acoustic sounds in the Tortoise tradition.
