The trio have created a timeless club track evoking the spirit of the tripped-out sounds of golden-era west coast house — dubby FX, a hint of breaks, soulful vocals, and that unmistakable Soul Clap swing — all put together with a flair that will move any dancefloor worth it’s salt.
Something of a pleasant surprise here, as popular Boston duo Soul Clap follow-up a recent missive on Crosstown Rebels with a belated label debut for Jimpster and Tom Roberts' Freerange Records imprint. The headline attraction is undoubtedly 'Drowning In Your Love' with honeyed vocalist Shaun J Wright, an attractively spacey, soulful and driving fusion of deep house and tech-house sounds. The pair also offer up two DJ tools - the excellent 'Storm Drums' and 'Windapella' - and contrasting takes on bonus cut 'EFUNK Anthem'. Choose between the rubbery, cosmic-tinged P-funk-goes-house flex of the excitable 'Funk mix' and the deep house dancefloor dub style 'Stripped Mix', which also boasts booming bass, chunky beats and some fantastic chopped-up rap samples.
