DESCRIPTION:
2009 Nu Metal, Heavy Metal Repressd on Ltd Edition Orange Vinyl - All Hope Is Gone', took the melodic lessons of its predecessor, and expanded upon them with dynamic and controversial results. From the crushing breakdowns and visceral fury of 'Gematria (The Killing Name)', to the Stone Sour leaning, big melody hooks of 'Sulfur' and 'Dead Memories', all the way to arguably one of the strongest points of contention, the utterly vulnerable and melancholic 'Snuff', would reveal dimensions of the Iowa 9-piece some never thought possible.

Possibly the most misunderstood entry in the collective canon, the project has garnered its own cult status in recent years, and also poignantly marks bassist Paul Grey's final effort with the group before his untimely passing in 2010.

There are at least two artists with this name: 1. Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, vocalist/percussionist Anders Colsefni, and bassist Paul Gray. Following several lineup changes, the group eventually established a nine-member formation: Sid Wilson (0), Joey Jordison (1), Paul Gray (2), Chris Fehn (3), Jim Root (4), Craig Jones (5), Shawn Crahan (6), Mick Thomson (7) and Corey Taylor (8). The band is recognized for its distinctive image, aggressive musical style, and energetic live performances. The group released its self-titled debut album, "Slipknot," in 1999, which garnered significant attention. Their second album, "Iowa," was released in 2001 and contributed to their growing popularity. After a brief hiatus, they returned in 2004 with their third album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)," followed by another hiatus. In 2008, they released "All Hope Is Gone," which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. Their fifth studio album, ".5: The Gray Chapter," came out in 2014. Subsequent releases include "We Are Not Your Kind" in 2019 and "The End, So Far" in 2022. The band has also issued two live albums, "9.0: Live" and "Day of the Gusano: Live in Mexico," a compilation album titled "Antennas to Hell," and several live DVDs. Slipknot has sold approximately 30 million records worldwide, including over 12 million in the United States. Bassist Paul Gray died on May 24, 2010 due to an overdose. Donnie Steele (MFKR era bassist) temporarily filled in on bass from 2011 to 2014. Following Gray's death, Shawn Crahan remained the only founding member in the active lineup. Drummer Joey Jordison was dismissed from the band in December 2013. During the production of ".5: The Gray Chapter," Steele departed, and Alessandro Venturella and Jay Weinberg joined on bass and drums, respectively. Chris Fehn was dismissed in March 2019 and was replaced by Michael Pfaff. In 2023, the band parted ways with Craig Jones and Jay Weinberg, with Eloy Casagrande joining as the new drummer in 2024. Slipknot was a thrashcore band from New Haven, Connecticut, active in the late 1980s. The band featured Stiemy on bass and vocals, who had previously been the vocalist for Fatal Vision, a band that appeared on the "Connecticut Fun" compilation LP released by INCAS in 1985. That compilation also marked the vinyl debut of Youth of Today, before the band became associated with the New York hardcore (NYHC) scene. After Slipknot disbanded, Stiemy ended his involvement in music and pursued careers in visual art and culinary arts. Chang, the band's drummer, also stopped playing music. In his youth, Chang was known for an incident involving fire damage at Yale University. The band's guitarist, known as F, later played drums in another New Haven hardcore band named Malachi Krunch.
