Eclectice 8 Track LP Post Punk / Techno, Drum N Bass, Acid house
& House Cuts - Since emerging in 2015, Sextile have been a party-provoking force on the LA underground, capable of kicking up a riot with the raw-edged squall of a synth or the sharp-elbowed jerk of a guitar.

Sextile are now ready to rage with a serotonin-boosting new album, a new group dynamic, faster BPMs, and an even wilder new direction. Recorded in Yucca Valley, Push bounces and bops at the fringes of hardcore dance music, with the hallmarks of drum & bass, gabber and trance illuminating the record like glowsticks at a ‘90s Fantazia rave.“Contortion” introduces the album with shadowy vocals from Keehnand a ‘00s-ready twist of dirty electro bass, setting the tone for the dance-punk rave-up that unfolds across 11 attention-grabbing tracks. There’s plenty of historic teen angst and biting social commentary written into the album’s vivid tales and misadventures. Balancing storytelling with face-melting synths that turn the tune into an acid trance character study, “No Fun” is penned from the perspective of a teenager trying to flee their town.A punk spirit underscores the album. The clue’s in the name with “Crassy Mel,” which partly serves as a high-energy dedication to ‘70s anarcho-punk legends Crass. The track’s headbanging heft, vocal yelping, and Prodigy-shaped breakbeats accentuate the album’s overwhelming sense of fun. Plus, the dreamy ambient wash at the end of the song is the ultimate palate-cleanser. Push was inspired by the kind of pleasure-seeking music fans whose social calendar comprises both the punk show and the rave. Josh Wink, Iggy Pop, Goldie, and early XL Recording shave all been name checked as influences on Push, and the dancefloor remains a constant presence. Repping their place of origin, “New York” brings these musical touchstones off the page, guiding the album like an acid-soaked lodestar with its grinning nod to “Higher State of Consciousness” and a whirlygig of music-box synths. There are still nods and “hellos” to the caustic post-punk of Sextile’s earlier work. Sextile haven’t relinquished their punk credentials, they’ve just given them a smiley-faced revamp.

Last FM Information on Sextile

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
Sextile is an American post-punk band from Los Angeles, California. The band consists of founding members Brady Keehn (vocals, guitar, electronics) and Melissa Scaduto (drums, electronics, guitar). The band takes its name from the aspect of the same name in astrology. History Sextile was formed in 2015 by Keehn and Scaduto, after the duo relocated from Brooklyn, New York to Los Angeles. They were soon joined by bassist Kenny Elkin and multi-instrumentalist Eddie Wuebben. Signing to Felte Records after supporting Ritual Howls at local gigs, the band released its debut album, A Thousand Hands in the same year. Its follow-up, Albeit Living, was released in 2017; by the time of its release, Elkin was replaced by bassist Cameron Michel. In 2018, Sextile released the single "Current Affair," with the band reduced to its two founding members for their EP, 3, later in the year. Sextile entered a hiatus in 2019, with Keehn and Scaduto pursuing other projects, Panther Modern and S. Product, respectively. The band's former guitarist, Eddie Wuebben, died on 5 October 2019, at the age of 29. Sextile broke its hiatus with the March 2022 release of "Modern Weekend"/"Contortion", both having been written after Wuebben's death. For summer 2022 tour dates in Mexico and the U.S., Cameron Michel rejoined the band on guitar and keyboards along with new drummer Lia Simone Braswell, formerly of Le Butcherettes and A Place to Bury Strangers. On September 15, 2023, the band has released their third album, Push, on Sacred Bones Records, which was accompanied by a North American tour. Following the departure of Michel, the band announced their fourth studio album, yes, please., which was released on May 2, 2025 on Sacred Bones Records. Musical style Sextile's sound has been described as post-punk and electronic rock. Their debut album featured an "occult-inspired post-punk style" that blended industrial, surf punk, psychobilly and ambient music; the band drew influences from Christian Death, Coil, Brian Eno, The Cramps and The Haxan Cloak during this period. AllMusic critic Heather Phares thought that the record "gave deathrock some new life" while featuring "descending riffs, martial beats, and outbursts that light up the darkness like flares." Their second album, Albeit Living, marked a change in style with a synth-punk sound that was likened to the works of Circle X, Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft and Chrome. Michael Toland of The Austin Chronicle wrote that the record collects "post-punk's angular chords, synth-pop's buzzing colors, No Wave's brash indifference, and goth's pessimistic glower." Its follow-up, 2018's 3 EP, showcased further embracement of electronics while introducing elements from EBM and dark wave. The band's third studio album, Push, has showcased significant influences from electronic dance music. Read more on Last.fm.
