DESCRIPTION:
Downbeat Electronica, Breaks & Indie Alternative Cuts On This LP Pressed On Deep Ocean Blue Coloured Vinyl.

With his new record Croak Dream, Puma Blue (real name Jacob Allen) returns to the spectral intimacy that first won him a cult following, now reimagined with the raw, instinctive energy of his live band. The album fuses lo-fi jazz balladry with jungle breaks, krautrock textures and trip-hop atmosphere, drawing comparisons to Portishead, Jeff Buckley, and D’Angelo.

Written in solitude and brought to life in collaboration, Croak Dream was conjured from tape loop sessions at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, co-produced and engineered by Sam Petts-Davies (The Smile, Frank Ocean) where the band improvised to fragments of Allen’s songs they’d never fully heard. The result is a dreamlike collage of baritone sax-drenched ballads and restless grooves: tender, feverish, and alive.

This record marks a daring evolution for Puma Blue, balancing bold sonic experimentation with raw emotional clarity, tailor-made for the stage.

A lot of artists try to catch the coattails of the south east London music scene but there's a few that come from that who are impervious to any disassociation with the scene and operate as singular artists - King Krule comes to mind and so does Puma Blue, real name Jacob Allen. Subsequently when Puma Blue moved to Atlanta, Georgia from London he embraced the challenge of establishing himself on a new scene and worked tremendously to get his name out there - he has gone from hyped newcomer to someone that appears to be in it for the long haul as a successful touring artist: he has a huge album tour across North America, Asia and Europe in 2026 to celebrate Croak Dream, his fourth studio album. Croak Dream is Allen at his most creative, with that soulful crooner voice underpinned by beats that you suspect Thom Yorke would wish he was the mastermind behind.

Puma Blue is the alias of singer/songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Allen, based in London, UK, whose music has been described as 'voicemail-ballads'. Producing the music himself in his bedroom, Jacob has been recognised for his dynamic, emotive voice, gritty lo-fi sound, particular visual aesthetic, as well as R&B, jazz and hip hop influences. He first gained a following from his 2014 SoundCloud bedroom demo 'Only Trying 2 Tell U' and slowly cultivated a cult following from live shows around London & on the internet. His debut EP ‘Swum Baby’ was independently released in June 2017, followed by two stand-alone singles on the Blue Flowers label. His second EP ‘Blood Loss’ was released in November 2018, a more ambitious, circular body of work consisting of 8 tracks that blend into eachother. Live he most often performs with his band, blending watery textures with soulful J Dilla influenced grooves and a vocal likened to Jeff Buckley and Chet Baker. Originally growing from the south-east London music scene, Jacob has frequently collaborated with friends and peers, including Lucy Lu, Biig Piig & Lava La Rue and honed his sound between intimate live shows and late-night producing sessions at home. He has cited D'Angelo, Radiohead & John Frusciante among his biggest influences. Jacob also sometimes makes music under the monikers Ruby Bliels and Boss Nass, though there have been no official releases under these names as of yet… Read more on Last.fm.
