2x12" Deep House, Vocal House & Nu Disco Reworks Of Classics
New York remixer Eric Kupper takes a crate of unreleased Philly soul tapes from 1982 and reshapes them for today's floors without losing the lush elegance of the originals. These new versions - cut across six sides of vinyl - feature the genre's original players: Earl Young, Vince Montana Jr, Norman Harris and more, with vocals from Joe Freeman, Ron Tyson and Teddy Pendergrass. 'Bad Luck' and 'The Love I Lost' by Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes are given sleek house-driven makeovers, while MFSB's 'Love Is the Message' gets two versions - one gently euphoric, the other dripping with gospel-tinged uplift. Elsewhere, 'Back Stabbers' and 'Do It Any Way You Wanna' gain percussive bite without losing their swagger. A beautifully judged tribute that brings the Sound of Philadelphia into the present with love and flair.
