Producer, arranger, DJ and musician from Madrid-Spain. He has his own record company “Zen Records”, and release different projects with different names from 1992. Influenced from its childhood by funky, soul, jazz and by electronic music in his adolescence, he knew that his future would be in music. Very versatile, he try to fuse his different influences with new technologies combining old harmonies with new sounds evolving day to day. One of his biggest hits was “The Night train” from Kadoc, who was selling all over the world more than two million copies (singles and compilations), and was number 12 in the UK charts and number 1 in Holland more than 1 month. In those days he played in Denmark, Germany, France, UK, Holland, Miami & Rusia. In 1994 he met DJ Chus who has been working with him since then in several projects, remixes and gigs. Producer under names as Deux, Montilla, Nuboy or Doblado, David Penn has worked also with DJ Chus, Ceballos, Toni Bass, Halo, DJ Jabato, Sebastián Gamboa, Camilo Franco and Olav Basoski. He made remixes for Jay-J, Junior Jack, Chus & Ceballos, Vibe Residents, Milk & Sugar, Dave Storm, Wackside, Lenny Fontana, Ron Hall, Jason Hates Jazz, Cam or The Thief among others. He had released records all over the world in labels as Defected, Black Vinyl, Purple Music, Azuli, Bluem, Maya or Rise. In 2003 starts a new division of Zen Records called Urbana Recordings with a big DJ recognition, releasing new fresh music from his Mediterranean country. His records are played by djs as Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Bob Sinclar, DJ Chus. Nominated as Best Breakthrough Label in House Music Awards (UK) and Deejaymags (Spain) 2005. As a dj he played in the Winter Music Conference in Miami, in Rusia in front of 5000 people, in Japan, Mexico, Poland, Estonia, Bulgary, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia, Malta, Egypt, Germany, … In 2007 he received 3 Deejaymags (Spanish Deejay magazine) as: -Best House DJ 2006 -Best House production Montilla “From The Stars” -Best Label Urbana Recordings In 2008, he has been awarded with the 2007 Best Club House DJ award in Deejaymags07. At the moment he´s doing a 2 hours radio show every thursday at www.locafm.com (Loca FM Spain) from 22:00 to 00:00 (Europe Time). Inner City was formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1988 by producer Kevin Saunderson. He enlisted the talent of Chicago native Paris Grey to perform vocals for the tracks on what would become some of the most memorable club anthems all time, beginning with 1988's smash hit "Big Fun." Inner City's debut album, also entitled "Big Fun" (Virgin Records, US) / "Paradise" (elsewhere) was released in 1989. The second single from the debut LP was the smash hit "Good Life," which has become one of Inner City's most memorable tracks gaining major airplay on MTV and peaking at #4 on the UK charts. The debut album also spawned a few other club hits such as "Do You Love What You Feel" and "Ain't Nobody Better." Kevin Saunderson went on to release three more albums under the Inner City name: 1990's "Fire," 1992's "Praise," and 1993's "Testament," which all yielded successful singles but could not match the chart-topping "Big Fun" and "Good Life." Drawing inspiration from the Balkan music scene, Riva showed his depth of musical knowledge - using the brilliant Noze on ‘I Was Drunk’ – whilst showcasing his directorial talents in the self-edited video release – a montage and homage to Balkan director Kusturica (over 800,000 hits on YouTube and counting). The single has already gained huge support on Radio 1 and the DJ elite and having been recently snapped up by major label Positiva, is due for release in August 2010. Riva’s Miami Defected compilation (March 2010) featured his remix of Dennis Ferrer’s ‘Hey Hey’ (arguably one of this year’s most talked about remixes), and was the perfect opportunity to showcase Riva’s dynamic sound and made one of Defected’s biggest compilations of the year. Snatch! (well of course!) Records, was launched in April 2010, and has already made a huge splash with releases from Donk Boys, David Keno, Riva’s own ‘Splendidub’, and Thomas Schumacher. You have to watch Riva’s incredible ‘Splendidub’ video, which again he made himself on Ableton… another YouTube sensation – sheer brilliance. 2010 was an insane year for Riva – he properly rocked all over the world… With an enviable energy, Riva has DJ’ed at every major club and festival including Cocoon; Space, Ibiza Rocks, the Radio 1 weekender & Pacha in Ibiza; UK festivals Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Creamfields & Love Box; Europes Dance Valley and Pukkelpop aswell as Fuji Rocks & Womb in Japan.
