DESCRIPTION:
1998 Metal/ Rock LP Repressed On 2x12" Blue Vinyl - Abbey Rd Half Speed Master. There are few bands that can or will match Sweden’s Opeth. Since forming in the tiny Stockholm suburb of Bandhagen in 1990, the Swedes have eclipsed convention, defiantly crushed the odds, and, most importantly, crafted 12 stunningly beautiful, intrinsically intense albums to become one of the best bands on the planet. My Arms Your Hearse is the bands 3rd album, a full conceptual piece with each track blending seamlessly into the next from start to finish to give the impression of an hour long “suite”, and was a contender for album of the year in 1997 with many publications when it was first released.

The third full-length from Swedish prog-metal auteurs, Opeth, served as their first work following the replacement of drummer Anders Nordin with Martin Lopez, and also proved that their newfound departure into ethereal waters weaved around their reliable gothic death metal machinations was no one-off. Distinguishing itself from its seminal predecessor, Morningrise, by restricting all tracks to below the ten-minute mark (an accomplishment for a group notorious for their eschewing of brevity), the expanded tracklist which includes fan favourites such as 'Demon Of The Fall', would cement the band as leaders of a new artistic, nuanced form of prog-death which they would continue to refine over the next two decades.

Last FM Information on Opeth

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
Opeth is a Swedish progressive metal band from Stockholm, formed in 1990. The band incorporates elements of folk, blues, classical, and jazz into its compositions, alongside influences from death metal, particularly in their early works. Their music often includes acoustic guitar passages, Mellotron use, death growls, and dynamic shifts. Opeth has experienced several lineup changes, with every original member eventually replaced. Mikael Åkerfeldt, lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter, has led the band since the departure of founder David Isberg in 1992. The band made few live appearances during the period of their first four albums, but began extensive world touring following the release of "Blackwater Park" in 2001 and has continued with subsequent tours. The band has released fourteen studio albums, four live DVDs, four live albums (three associated with DVDs), and two box sets. Their debut album, "Orchid", was released in 1995. With their eighth album, "Ghost Reveries" (2005), Opeth achieved chart success in several countries, including a Top Ten position in Sweden. Their ninth album, "Watershed" (2008), reached number one on the Finnish albums chart and number 23 on the US Billboard 200. As of 2009, Opeth had sold over 1.5 million albums and DVDs worldwide, including 300,000 SoundScan sales of "Blackwater Park", "Damnation", and "Deliverance" in the United States. Their fourteenth studio album, "The Last Will and Testament" (2024), won the Swedish Grammis award for Best Hard Rock/Metal.
