HOH is Helge Olav Øksendal, composer, arranger and artist, living in Stavanger, on the westcoast of Norway. Runs zang: with friend and companion, Pål Asle Pettersen. Also a member of the newly founded electropop-trio Modan Garu.
"HOH (b. 1975, Stavanger/Norway) has become an increasingly active and diligent presence in the “Stavanger Scene” revolving around NuMusic and Tou Scene. The HOH live act often has an element of the eccentric and unpredictable about it, but is definitely geared as much toward the dancefloor as it is the intellectual end of the electronica genre.
Emerging from a background in the experimental underground scene, his latest album “Bestemor” represents a major leap forward for HOH. Increasingly, the HOH sound leans towards a “pop” idiom, i.e. a stronger emphasis on dynamics and brighter melodies; a more clearly defined sound. The alert listener will nonetheless recognize recurring qualities from the ambitious artist's previous works. HOH’s inspiration from the cultural traditions in literature and film is very much present; as is a love of intricate but catchy breakbeats, and last but not least a intuitive sense of the fundamentally personal quality of music."
