MORJAC/ TERRY, TODD - DO IT

Producers, songwriters & musicians Morten Lambertsen and Jacob Johansen, collectively known as Morjac are probably the most succesful house & club act to ever come out of denmark. They have proven time and time again that they have the vision, focus and expertise that it takes to stay in the charts. This Danish Duo count leading DJ's such as Judge Jules, Howard Richie, Roger Sanchez, Steve Smart & Pete Tong among their fans. They release records simultaneously under different disguises, such as Teamsters, Marly, Natural High, The Montanas, and Risskov Bandits, to name a few. These unique projects, produced & written by this four-armed monster known as Morjac, have earned recognition in the clubs as well as on radio, all over the world. Morjac began appearing in the international charts over five years ago--and they've simply never left them. Back in 1990, the two full-time work-a-holics, Jacob Johansen and Morten Lambertsen met in the funk group "King Kane", which had a reputation among funk lovers in Scandinavia as the party-band of the nineties. King Kane achieved wide recognition for their energy and explosive live performance. A few years later, Jacob and Morten began a duo, developing new artists and producing pre-established acts. Always in touch with the latest developments in the underground and on the pop scene, they worked hard and gained experience in the studio, where they crafted a number of Rn'B and disco tracks on an Atari and ASR 10 sampler, long before it became the fashion. Then in 2000, the record label "Montana Entertainment" was listening to some old compilations, when a 4-track demo of Jacob and Morten's earlier works caught their ear. Stunned by the sophisticated arrangements, groove and lyrics, they immediately grabbed Jacob and Morten and encouraged them to show the world what house and club music could sound like. Todd Terry is one of the most legendary house producers of all time, creating a distinctive Todd Terry sound that is instantly recognizable on any dancefloor. From the late '80s, Todd Terry has been producing and performing music, mainly in the more club-oriented style of house music. Classics like Weekend and House Is A Feelin' are known by most lovers of house music and still played by many a DJ worldwide. Terry's productions can be described as a varied collection of samples blending the sounds of classic disco, the more introspective Chicago sound pioneered earlier in the decade, plus plenty of hip-hop attitude and sampling piracy.[citation needed] Much of Todd Terry's early work in the late 1980s is considered a milestone in the development of both progressive and modern deep house. Todd Terry has been responsible for releasing two of the most respected crossover remixes of the house era: "I'll House You" by the Jungle Brothers and "Missing" by Everything But the Girl by the mid 1990s. Among his fans, Todd Terry is known as Todd the God, God Terry, Todd Godrry, Godd Gerry (or, occasionally, simply God, because he might be a Five Percenter, but this is unconfirmed). Todd's tracks "Something Goin' On'" and "Keep on Jumpin'" were both UK Top-10 hits as well as Us Hot Dance Music/Club Play #1s, with the vocals provided by Jocelyn Brown and Martha Wash. Freestyle diva Shannon was the featured vocalist on the Top Twenty hit "It's over Love" in 1997. In 1999 Todd Terry released Resolutions, successfully embracing the then-still avant-garde Drum-n-Bass aestethics. Terry also has several aliases such as Swan Lake, Orange Lemon, Royal House, Amy Studt, Black Riot, CLS, Masters at Work (although this moniker he gave to Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez & "Little" Louie Vega), Dredd Stock, House of Gypsies, Limelife, Hard House, Tyme Forse, Gypsymen. Todd Terry became one of the best-paid DJs in both Europe and the United States. He normally performs on four turntables, mostly playing his own tracks. In October 2004, Weekend by the Todd Terry Project appeared in popular video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, playing on House music radio station SF-UR. Read more on Last.fm.
