A joint studio album of American rapper Nas and Jamaican artist reggae Damian Marley released on 18 May 2010 by record label Universal Republic and Def Jam Recordings [1] .

The album was recorded from 2008 to 2010 in Los Angeles , the creators of music were mainly Damian Marley and his brother Stephen [15] . Distant Relatives is a combination of hip-hop and reggae , and the subject of most of the tracks is Africa , which is to derive mankind, and which is now a continent of poverty - the ground on which people fight for survival [16] .

The album debuted on the 5th spot quotations Billboard 200 [17] selling in the first week of the quantity of 57 000 copies

An album created by two serious artists to explore and celebrate the correlations and deep-rooted connections between reggae and hip-hop, tracing both sounds back to the African motherland.
