There are two artists that use the name L7. 1. A Los Angeles punk rock band. 2. A disbanded visual kei band. 1. L7 is a rock band founded in Los Angeles, California, first active from 1985 to 2001 and re-formed in 2014. Their longest standing line-up consists of Suzi Gardner (vocals, guitar), Donita Sparks (vocals, guitar), Dee Plakas (drums, vocals) and Jennifer Finch (bass, vocals). L7 has released seven studio albums and has toured widely in the US, Europe, Japan, Australia, and South America. L7's song "Pretend We're Dead" became a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Modern Rock chart in 1992. A documentary film about the band entitled L7: Pretend We're Dead premiered in 2016. Their breakout track “Pretend We're Dead” became a defining anthem of the early ’90s, capturing the frustration and restlessness of a generation while earning heavy rotation on alternative radio and breaking into the Top 10 of the Billboard Modern Rock chart. L7’s live shows were famously unpredictable—frontwoman Sparks once hurled a used tampon into the crowd at the 1992 Reading Festival, a moment that symbolized their commitment to defying convention. Beyond the stage, the band made waves in activism as the founders of Rock for Choice, a series of pro-choice benefit concerts that gave a voice to political and social resistance through music. Due to their sound and image, L7 is often associated with the grunge movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s and as an all-female band, L7 has, at times, been linked to riot grrrl; although they preceded and are outliers of both the grunge and riot grrrl movements. L7’s unfiltered approach and relentless energy influenced countless bands, helping to pave the way for the Riot Grrrl movement and inspiring acts like Bikini Kill, Garbage, and Hole. L7 has been supportive of political causes, and formed Rock for Choice in 1991. The members were KEN as vocalist, Ray on guitar, Taikou on bass and Ryuta on drums. All members were previous members of Blue Blood Boa. L7 released one single - LOVE&HATE - on the 5th of November, 2019. They disbanded shortly after on the 4th of July, 2020, after Taikou and Ray secceded the band.
