DESCRIPTION:
2 Vocal House / Nu-Disco / Soulful House Cuts Feat Beverly Knight & Jaki Graham - Monster !!!!

Fool’s Paradise is the exciting new label from Toolroom Records’ Mark Knight - that comes straight from the heart, it’s a natural progression from his hugely acclaimed 2021 album release, ‘Untold Business’, which saw Mark go back to his roots, paying homage to the more funky, soulful, and vocal House from the 1990s from where he came.

With a focus on real instrumentation and production, coupled with great song writing, this new Toolroom sub label will be a platform for high quality House music that’s designed to stand the test of time. Launching the new label with a mighty bang and delivering the first in our exciting new vinyl sampler series is head honcho, Mark Knight who joins forces with Australian Toolroom label mate, Sgt Slick and British Soul sensation, Beverley Knight on a dynamite cover of Prince’s 1979 classic, ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’.

Respectfully transporting the song onto today’s dance floors, Mark & Sgt Slick deliver a classy uplifting soulful house production, loaded with funky guitars, warm pads and sublime key performances. Adding the icing on the cake and putting her own stamp on things, Beverley belts out one of her signature spine-tingling vocals, garnished with lush harmonies and BV’s that would indeed make The Purple One proud!

Completing the vinyl package is Dance music stalwart, Opolopo, and British Soul icon, Jaki Graham, who together bring the dance floor heat with their new single, ‘Fire’. Powered by a potent soulful house groove from Opolopo, loaded with warm piano hooks, emotive synth melodies and a sublime popping bass hook, ‘Fire’ see’s Jaki flaunt her electrifying vocal talents with a show-stopping performance on this irresistibly catchy song.

Last FM Information on Mark Knight

Not to be confused with, the similarly named, video games and Chiptune composer - Mark 'TDK' Knight. 1) Mark Knight is head of Toolroom Records & a UK DJ / producer. He has stamped his impression on the scene of electronic dance music - through a string of releases & parties - highlighting his label. Often collaborating with fellow British DJ Funkagenda, Mark has been at the forefront of commercial house, techno & tech house. Some of his most successful releases are Man With The Red Face (with Funkagenda), Downpipe (with Underworld & D. Ramirez) & an Underworld rework - Beautiful Burnout (Mark Knight Remix). 2) LA Guitarist Mark Knight's first band was this band called Krude Witch and at sixteen or seventeen played The Troubadour and all the major clubs in Hollywood. Opened up for W.A.S.P. and Ratt. Then that band disbanded, and he put this band together Mickey Knight. It was right around ’84-’85 and the scene was pulsing, all the hair bands. So, Poison, Ratt, all those bands were selling out and the whole scene was starting — and really the Sunset Strip scene was starting to happen. Mickey Knight never got a record deal, but he went on to do City Slick, and then eventually Bang Tango. Read more on Last.fm. Last FM Information on Opolopo

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
Opolopo is a pseudonym of Peter Major (b. Zirc, Hungary) & Yorùbá for ‘plenty’ - indicative of this production wizard’s diverse musical voyage. Starting out, in early teens, with overdubbing on cassette decks, with a Casio VL-Tone (toy keyboard), to constructing soundscapes on synth's, drum machines & computers, as an extraordinary Scandinavian producer. Major spent the early part of his creative development touring (with keyboardist father), when his ingenuity was fed, through listening to jazz fusion / musique concrète records, e.g. from: Herbie Hancock, Jeff Lorber, Quincy Jones, Jean-Michel Jarre, Isao Tomita, Kraftwerk & Earth, Wind & Fire. Equipped with keyboards, vocoder and modern technology Opolopo plays from London to Tokyo, as a one man band, with jazz ensemble Expansions, or with primary collaborator Amalia Miz Fuze Townsend, who will soon release her new album via TDR too. His music spans over a decade on labels such as JVC Japan, Om Records, Warner Brothers, Tru Thughts, Sony/BMG, Swedish Brandy and Especial Records. Collaboration highlights include the legendary Dazz Band, Dudley Perkins, Craig David, Mr. V, Lanu, Simon Grey, Mpho Skeef, Eska, Sacha Williamson and more. His bootleg remixes of Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and Erykah Badu also built a frenzy with soul music connoisseurs worldwide. Opolopo’s third full length album focussing on 80s electro funk will be released by Tokyo Dawn Records soon, solidifying his reputation as a world class boogie conductor.
