KNIGHT, MARK / KARLSON, SAM / PRESTON, ALEX / KID MASSIVE - [V6] FOOL’S PARADISE SAMPLER VOL. 6

- NEW RELEASE

TITLE:
[v6] Fool’s Paradise Sampler Vol. 6
CATNO:
FP008
FORMAT:
Vinyl record
DESCRIPTION:
Vocal House / Soulful House 4 Tracker - Fool’s Paradise’s latest Sampler sees 4 big releases from Mark Knight, Mark Dedross, Sam Karlson, Alex Preston, Mo’Funk, Secret Weapons (AU), Kid Massive and Rubber People.

Toolroom offshoot Fool's Paradise specialises in chunky and funky house cuts that frequently sample, or pay tribute to, disco and 80s electrofunk. To begin, we're treated to a fine chunk of revivalist, synth-heavy electrofunk/house fusion from Knight and Mark Dredross ('Fighting Love' - a cut that not only boasts thickset 80s synth sounds aplenty, but also choice vocal samples from a classic house cut). Sam Carlson's 'On The Run' is a classic chunk of filter sporting, tease-and-release disco-house excellence, while 'People Dancing' by Alex Preston, Mo'Funk and Secret Weapons is the kind of full-throttle 21st century disco-house number that could have come out of Dave Lee's studio. Finally, Kid Massive and Rubber People's 'World Here Mine' is a suitably heavy, sample-rich house smasher that defies cosy categorisation.

DJ Support: Black Legend, David Penn, Mark Knight, Ronnie Herel, Dr Packer, RAE, Claptone, Curtis Jay, Oliver Heldens, TCTS, ESSEL, Ladies On Mars, Sam Feldt, DJ Spen, ManyFew, Sister Bliss & more.

Not to be confused with, the similarly named, video games and Chiptune composer - Mark 'TDK' Knight. 1) Mark Knight is head of Toolroom Records & a UK DJ / producer. He has stamped his impression on the scene of electronic dance music - through a string of releases & parties - highlighting his label. Often collaborating with fellow British DJ Funkagenda, Mark has been at the forefront of commercial house, techno & tech house. Some of his most successful releases are Man With The Red Face (with Funkagenda), Downpipe (with Underworld & D. Ramirez) & an Underworld rework - Beautiful Burnout (Mark Knight Remix). 2) LA Guitarist Mark Knight's first band was this band called Krude Witch and at sixteen or seventeen played The Troubadour and all the major clubs in Hollywood. Opened up for W.A.S.P. and Ratt. Then that band disbanded, and he put this band together Mickey Knight. It was right around ’84-’85 and the scene was pulsing, all the hair bands. So, Poison, Ratt, all those bands were selling out and the whole scene was starting — and really the Sunset Strip scene was starting to happen. Mickey Knight never got a record deal, but he went on to do City Slick, and then eventually Bang Tango. Read more on Last.fm. DJ, producer, composer & art director, Sam Karlson is spotted by David Guetta in the mythical club Les Bains-douches. He becomes very quickly a front-line dj of the parisian clubbing scene: le madam, le red light, le mix, le folies pigalle, le yoyo, regine's, le baron... He crafts his signature sound, disco/funky/gospel house oriented, while releasing his first productions on phil weeks label, robsoul recordings, and on fafa monteco's hypnotic label. This year, Sam Karlson teams up with Defected Record's big love label to present his new productions, starring iconic guests like the house divas Michelle Weeks, Barbara Tucker, Lisa Rudy, and collaborations like with the french producer Luke Delite. Definitly a 90s house feel with a high energy modern twist. That's Sam Karlson. Read more on Last.fm. Last FM Information on Alex Preston

Since the inception of his live show and his exciting new style of house music, Alex Preston has become a force to be reckoned with in the world of electronic music. The Sydney-native utilises his skills as a virtuoso musician as he tastefully melds his signature guitar licks with disco tinged bass lines and warm pulsating house beats. 2020 is proving to be Alex Preston’s breakout year with Mark Knight labelling him as one of his favourite producers and one to watch out for in the coming months. Signing with Mark’s infamous Toolroom Records, Alex was handed the responsibility of mixing and curating the Toolroom Poolside Album 2020. The release features 4 new originals from Alex with vocals from Rion S and includes his collaboration with the legendary, Friend Within. It also includes 2 DJ mixes hand picked by Alex, not only showcasing Alex’s production talents but also his skills as a tastemaker DJ. The run up to the end of 2019 saw Alex’s music hit a new gear as Traxsource named him their no.15 highest selling House artist for 2019; Alex sharing the top 20 with names such as David Penn, Low Steppa, Mousse T, Kevin McKay, Purple Disco Machine & Todd Terry. This momentum flowed into January 2020 as Friend Within played Alex’s single “Your Ragga” off his Basement Sound label on BBC Radio 1 Future Anthems; along with the Aston Shuffle spinning his track “A Very Healthy Thing” off Low Steppa’s Simma Black imprint on Triple J; all in the same weekend. The following week Mark Knight dropped “A Very Healthy Thing” on Toolroom Radio and hailed Alex as “a name to look out for in 2020”. Toolroom records singing Alex’s single “An Example of Disco” (featuring the vocals of Rion S) scheduling it for a worldwide release on 6 March 2020 adding it to their Miami 2020 Compilation. Alex also signed with Kevin McKay’s hugely successful, Glasgow Underground. With Kevin himself editing one of Alex’s more blues-influenced tracks, “Get Myself Together” (also featuring the vocals of Rion S and released on 3 April 2020). The rest of 2020 is looking solid for Alex with a collaboration with Siege due for release on Toolroom’s T2 Album in July, along with releases on the uber cool UK based Another Rhythm Records. Not to mention, there’s word of an album dropping on his own Basement Sound imprint in September! Read more on Last.fm. Last FM Information on Kid Massive

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
Hailing from Denmark with a signature style of driving but uplifting house, reflecting the many sounds and facets not only of house music but the entire electronic genre; Kid Massive’s winning crossover formula contains tight production skills, bouncy rhythms and an acute knowledge of what makes dance floors move. DJ/Producer/Trainer Addict Benjamin Pedersen has clocked-up premier support from key figures across the board including Roger Sanchez, TV Rock, Bob Sinclar, Eddie Thoneick and Avicii to name but a few, all of whom have succumbed to this colourful character. With a slew of hit releases behind him and a monster debut album to come… things really are about to get Massive. Kid Massive has worked with various styles of music throughout his career, all of which have helped define him as the artist he has become today. In the early 2000’s he started up his own act Geeza, which was a fusion of electro clash, punk and hooligan house, that went on to record the critically acclaimed album This Is Beyond Criticism. The record was championed by the liked of Mark Moore, Damian Lazarus and XFM and saw the band embark on a Scandinavian tour. He also masterminded and produced the downbeat jazz album entitled “Suite Dreams” under the guise of Malou which became a radio sensation in his home country of Denmark and neighbouring Sweden. KM moved permanently into house music in 2004 with his first signing to the legendary label Slip & Slide and had his first big international hit Get Busy in 2008, which reached number 2 in the overall Beatport chart. This led on to hugely popular reworks of seminal classics Music Is The Answer and Touch Me (feat. Elliotte Williams N'Dure), with the latter released in 2009 on Sanchez’s Stealth Records. Fast-forward to 2010 and his larger than life career has kicked off in appropriate Massive style, dropping not one but two huge dance floor bombs. Firstly with “Pride (A Deeper Love)”, another rework, this time of the C&C Music Factory classic complete with an epic remix from John Dahlbäck. It gained praise from house heavyweights and radio support across the globe, simultaneously achieving shining reviews in both IDJ and Mixmag and reaching an impressive number 5 positioning in the UK Buzz Chart. Hot on its heels was Home, the powerhouse collaboration between KM, Grammy Award winning artist Paul Harris (from Dirty Vegas), Michael Gray of Full Intention fame and sultry vocalist Sam Obernik. Hailed as “Ibiza summer magic” and championed by Pete Tong on Radio 1, Home hit an even more impressive number 2 in the UK Buzz Chart and number 5 in the Cool Cuts Chart. As a resident for the famed clubbing brand Kinky Malinki, he regularly plays at London’s most notorious bastions of club culture, including Ministry of Sound and Pacha. KM’s energetic sets have rocked festival tents and dance floors the world over this year and now he turns his focus to his highly anticipated debut artist album due for release in 2011. Eagerly awaiting fans can expect a dynamic range of tracks featuring international talent such as Dutch MC Jay Colin, UK pop-starlet Sam Obernik, Australian indie act Mr Wilson and legendary house vocalist Peyton. Set to drop in summer 2011, this is an album of epic proportions and one guaranteed to catapult KM to the top of his game. Alongside his own production work, KM is also label boss of the swiftly rising imprint Get Down Recordings with an upcoming release schedule packed to the rafters with fresh and exciting talent. 2011 is set to be an even bigger year for this unstoppable force, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for further information on the album.
