DESCRIPTION:
Indie Pop, Dream Pop Synth & Indie Rock - Pressed on Swamp Green Vinyl - Tne of the most free spirited and inspired indie rock debuts our island has seen for a while, Her’s had seemingly AAA backstage access to styles and eras that made home in their mutant retro-futurist sound.

There was always something instantly charismatic about Stephen and Audun which proved pivotal in shooting their jangly, oddball pop into the major leagues. Luminous guitar lines, tremulous dissonant vocals and an arsenal of gorgeous melodies, the collection tilts from rock to bossa nova, surf to garage, 50s ballad to indie classic. Through laughter and art, Her’s take us away from the strife of everyday life and into a world that’s a surreal reflection of our own, built from the detritus of novelty items in junk shops, bargain bin b-movies and late-night cop shows. Under the facade and strange world of characters and humour there lies a deeper undercurrent, this approach is one of the subtle reasons Her’s stand apart and through this vehicle their messages still have the potential to shift perceptions.

Last FM Information on Her's

Her’s were a Liverpool-based dream pop duo formed in the mid-2010s, known for their soft-focus guitar textures, understated grooves, and quietly emotional songwriting. The band consisted of Stephen Fitzpatrick (vocals, guitar) and Audun Laading (bass, backing vocals). Fitzpatrick, from Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria, and Laading, originally from Norway, met while studying in Liverpool. Coming from different countries and coastal towns, the pair bonded over shared humor, introspective observation, and a mutual affection for gentle, melodic pop music. Their sound drew from indie pop, dream pop, and lo-fi aesthetics, marked by clean guitar lines, relaxed bass rhythms, and lyrics that captured fleeting emotions, nostalgia, and romantic uncertainty. Her’s began releasing early demos and singles in the mid-2010s, gradually building an international following through online platforms and word of mouth. In May 2017, they released Songs of Her’s, a compilation album collecting their early tracks, which introduced listeners to their signature warmth and understated charm. Songs such as “Dorothy” and “What Once Was” helped establish the duo as distinctive voices within modern dream pop. The band released their debut studio album, Invitation to Her’s, in August 2018. The album was widely praised for its cohesion, melodic subtlety, and emotional sincerity, further cementing Her’s reputation for crafting intimate, softly glowing songs. Tracks like “Harvey” and “Manners” became fan favorites, celebrated for their gentle arrangements and conversational lyricism. While touring the United States in support of Invitation to Her’s, tragedy struck. On 27 March 2019, Fitzpatrick and Laading, along with their tour manager Trevor Engelbrektson, were killed in a car accident. The loss sent shockwaves through the global music community, with fans and fellow musicians alike paying tribute to the duo’s kindness, humility, and artistic promise. Despite their brief career, Her’s left behind a body of work that continues to resonate. Their music remains cherished for its softness, emotional honesty, and timeless simplicity, ensuring that Her’s legacy endures as one of modern dream pop’s most tender and affecting stories.
