TITLE:
Stellar Drifting

CATNO:
DS142LPX

Vinyl record
DESCRIPTION:
Deep House / Tech House Pressed on Limited Translucent vinyl LP + MP3 download code - Thematically the record incorporates intergalactic utopian narratives; escapism, outer space and utopian vision of the future feature. The term ‘stellar drift’ refers to the movement of stars - far from being static and eternal, space is constantly in motion, and celestial bodies are changing over time. The album title hints at an otherworldly serenity that might be found within this continual flux.

It's been a long time since we'd heard about George Fitzgerald. Several years ago he was everywhere, appearing on all the top imprints at the time such as Hotflush, Hypercolour and Aus Music. After a long hiatus, Fitzgerald returns with his fourth full-length for Domino offshoot Double Six entitled Stellar Drifting. It's a wide selection of moods and grooves demonstrating the diversity within his sonic repertoire. The collaborations are particularly noteworthy, such as with Panda Bear on 'Passed Tense', with SOAK on 'Rainbows and Dreams' and teaming up with British outfit London Grammar on 'The Last Transmission'.

Last FM Information on George Fitzgerald

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
George Fitzgerald first appeared on our radar with his "Don't You" cut on Scuba's Sub:stance mix. Fast-forward a year and he's got his first release on Hotflush, dropping the future garage soul of "The Let Down" and a luscious dubtech gem in "Weakness". It's hard to escape the fact that both sides strongly remind of Joy Orbison, but that's a really obvious comparison to make considering that he's got tunes lined up for release on Doldrums. The pair simply share a keen sense of garage & house-warmed melody and a thing for clipped 2-step patterns with big bottom end. If you're into Instra:mental, Mount Kimbie, James Blake or Joy Orbison, you could do a lot worse than this. Read more on Last.fm.
