3 Track EP OF Tuff Techno - If you want a snapshot of where techno stands in any given year, and a preview of where it’s headed, look no further than Drumcode’s A-Sides compilation. Since 2012 it has marked the label debuts of countless vital Drumcode artists and affiliates, from Layton Giordani, Wehbba and Boxia, to Amelie Lens and ANNA, no less.

Every year, new names are unearthed, tried and true techno contributors serve up their best, and icons of the industry land their debut on Adam Beyer’s storied label. The 2020 edition hits with 13 tracks, eight coming from label debutants.

Part three houses Eats Everything’s searing rave bomb ‘Organico’ and Dubfire’s ice-cool electro offering ‘Deadbug’, both artists landing their maiden contributions to DC after long affiliations with Beyer.

Dubfire (aka Ali Shirazinia)--one half of the Grammy Award winning and four-time nominated electronic music duo Deep Dish--has joined forces with Global Underground for the April 10 release of his first solo mix album Dubfire GU31 – Taipei. The 2-CD mix set is a sweeping change from anything you would have previously expected to hear from the Deep Dish member and it features the finest in house, electro, techno, and even industrial music. Growing up in the Washington, DC area, Dubfire spent much of his youth playing the guitar in school bands and listening to heavy doses of classic Hip-Hop, jazz/rare groove, dub reggae, new wave and industrial. Dubfire was also influenced by the local punk scene and the music of hometown bands like Fugazi and Minor Threat. Members of these bands also worked at a local record store called Yesterday And Today Records, and this is where Dubfire first picked up on the sounds of acts such as Kraftwerk, Ministry, Jesus & Mary Chain, Depeche Mode, Nitzer Ebb, Adrian Sherwood/On-U Sound and Einsturzende Neubauten. Through this heavy industrial influence, namely the sound of Chicago’s famed Wax Trax! label, Dubfire discovered the Chicago house scene and what labels like Trax and D.J. International Records were releasing. Dubfire’s eclectic new mix is the product of his diverse past and addictive music personality, and this mix is more about Dubfire personally and as a DJ. Dubfire’s mix was compiled with tracks that he’s both really into at the moment and that have also had a profound influence on shaping his love for music. Dubfire GU31 – Taipei is laced full of gems from a diverse lot including Depeche Mode, Carl Craig, Booka Shade, Extrawelt, Samuel L Session and Nitzer Ebb. However, the biggest surprise of all comes with Dubfire’s original production “I Feel Speed;” a cover of an obscure Love & Rockets song that, for the first time, features his own vocals! Harvey McKay has emerged from Glasgow’s underground clubbing scene to become one of the hottest prospects in electronic music today. From his breakthrough track Nightwalker on Soma Records – which quickly garnered massive support from Richie Hawtin, becoming his most played track for 6 months – Harvey has built a reputation for one-off originals, killer remixes with DJ sets that travel from deep driving house to powerful techno but always with a dark energetic party signature sound. Since then Harvey's career has gone from strength to strength, gaining support from Adam Beyer, Stephan Bodzin, Laurent Garnier, Michael Mayer, Luke Slater, Slam and Green Velvet. Although he is never one to be pigeonholed by genre , his very unique driving sound is there throughout all his productions. From the jacking tech house sound of summer hit ‘Show Face’ on Saved Records, to the deep powerful techno of ‘Supercell’ on Drumcode and his house tracks on Soma Records - Harvey is never afraid to vary the style and vibe of his productions, always experimenting sonically. With releases on Drumcode, Soma, Saved,, Trapez & 8-Sided Dice and with further Eps and a string of huge remixes confirmed for 2012, Harvey is set to continue crafting his individual techno sound that he has become known and respected for.
