Frustrated Funk is the chosen medium to release the next phase in Dataphysix's research and experimentation of electromagnetic radiation
Its been four years since we had a Der Zyklus record in and I will say it was well worth the wait now this new frustrated Funk 12" is with us. "Cherenkov Radiation" opens up this EP, it's a dark, sparse electro number, taut beats, analogue bass pulses and eerie pads in the background. Next up "Quasar" easily the EP's winner for me being a total homage to John Carpenter (could just be my ears), no beats as such, just a big old synth bass punctuating more eerie backing synths, sounds like walking through a disused cable factory on the estuary of a heavily polluted river. Over on side-B we get the more signature sounding "Roche Limit" in two versions. Uptempo electro made with horror movies in mind. Excellent.
