2x12" 1992 Techno Classic Repressed On Ltd Edition 2x12" Clear Vinyl - Detroit bred / LA based producer Kenny Larkin has long been a force to be reckoned with, both in the studio and in the DJ booth.
Under his 'Dark Comedy' alias Larkin crafted some of the deepest and most soul-searching Detroit Techno sounds to grace human ears. 'Corbomite Manuever' was originally released in 1992 and is the complete epitome of a game changer, this was Techno at it's most sensual, intelligent and human, the antithesis of a lot of what was masquerading as the real-deal at the time. These qualities are what have stood this record in it's evergreen good stead for all these years - decades, in fact. Truly genius music made by someone who lives and breathes Techno. A truly staggering collection of music that still dumbfounds today and inspires generations of producers and DJ's to this very day. The most essential of the essential, classic material from front to back. Reissued for the first time across 2 x 12"s for pure sonic superiority.

The 'Corbomite Manuever EP' has been legitimately released with the full involvement of Kenny Larkin and remastered from the source materials by Curve Pusher from the original sources especially for this release. 100% legit, licensed and released. Dug, remastered, repackaged and brought to you by the caring folks at Mint Condition!

Profile: With the deluge of techno artists from all over the world making headlines, it's easy (although very wrong) to forget that techno was created in Detroit, Michigan by African-American visionaries like Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins and Derrick May. From there Kenny Larkin began his music career in 1990 after serving two years in the U.S. Air Force, where he was repairing computers. Hanging out at local Detroit clubs like The Music Institute and The Shelter, he soon hooked up with Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva records under a variety of monikers, including Dark Comedy, Pod and Yennek. His first full-length album Azimuth, released in 1994, established Kenny as one of the major forces in contemporary dance music. 1995's follow-up, Metaphor, once again proved convincingly that, unlike anybody else, Larkin kicks up some real soul. All in all, Metaphor is a high class Detroit package marked by variety and rhythmic enchantment; it's melodic, emotive and, like so much great U.S. techno, almost jazz-like in places. "This is electronic soul music, full of human feeling and warmth." At times very minimal and ambient, other times well informed by house, Kenny's warm dance beats hit in just the right places at just the right time. "A lot of styles of music come out in my moods: jazz, house, techno... it depends on how I'm feeling" -- Ken, January 1996 Read more on Last.fm.
