Parisian synth-funk revivalist Daebull's 2019 EP Intimate Fonk, a set in which he tipped a wink to the smooth and synth-heavy sounds of 80s soul and the more loved-up end of the 2000s r&b movement. It remains one of his glossiest and classiest releases, with highlights including superb opener 'Day & Night', where sweet female vocals ride a squelchy bassline, post-electro beats and colourful synth solos, the ultra-slow and sensual 'Last Night', the club-ready, 1986 style shuffle of 'You & I', and the wide-eyed, Midnight Starr-meets-Luther Vandross style wonder that is closing cut 'Dr Fonk'.
