4 Re-edits in Eclectic Styles of Vocal Deep house, Afro House , with Jazzy & Latin Flava's
California's finest producer Coflo is back on GAMM with his second EP with edits and reworks of his favourite tunes.
All tracks hover around 4/4 rhythms but beyond that the music goes in all directions. First is 'Yo No Bailo' which is a deep Afro-Cuban House jam with chanting vocals and driving percussion. Second is 'Sealion', a bumpy house refix of the classic cover of 'See Line Woman'.
On the flip side Coflo goes deep down south for a blues session with an electronic twist, a great marriage of musical styles if you ask us. We end strong with 'Rare Silk' a vocal Jazz-Afro-House jam that is both deep and uplifting at the same time...
Cisco Ferreira aka Coflo is undoubtedly one of deep house's success stories of recent years - a San Francisco-based producer whose original productions have appeared on Yoruba Records, Catelaya Music, Local Talk, Classic and Freerange. Like many producers, he's also an enthusiastic re-editor, as last year's fine first scalpel outing on GAMM proved. He brings the heat on this welcome sequel, delivering tasteful, lightly housed-up versions tailor-made for peak-time plays. He turns a mambo workout into a bass-heavy Latin house roller on opener 'Yo No Bailo', before delivering a bouncy deep house take on a cover of an old Nina Simone favourite ('Sealion'). Turn to the flip for 'Poor Boy', a squelchy, acid-flecked house take on an old blues stomper, and the dreamy soul-jazz-goes-Latin-house shuffle of 'Rare Storm'.
