Dennis Quinn Serves Up 4 New Mixes Vocal Dubs & Club Mixes, Of 1998 Smash Hit From Allstar Collaboration.
Ibadan announces the release of a new remix by Dennis Quin of Kerri Chandler & Jerome Sydenham ft. Troy Denari - You're In My System on vinyl in December, 2019.
Quin, a self-professed house addict and die-hard Kerri Chandler fan since the early nineties, had been searching for a new vocalist to work with. He turned to Simon Birkumshaw, label manager and A&R of Chandler's Madhouse Records, who recommended Troy Denari, the original vocalist of the classic Ibadan track "You're In My System". When Denari revealed that had just resung the vocals, Quin was inspired to remix the track.
Quin's aim with this remix was to update the track for his sets and give it contemporary production values in line with his current digital sets. "It's always tricky to put your hands on a huge record like this," he says. "It's a legendary track that everyone knows, so I was extremely careful in terms of mixing, timing, and all the rest." The result is a modern version of the classic that is very true to the original. At the same time, Quin makes his mark by bringing his own drum and percussion into the mix.
The remix versions cover all the bases for various digital distribution formats, including atmospheric dub, club and instrumental mixes, plus a special three-minute edit for Spotify.
Working together for the first time, the members of the musical team were excited to exchange their ideas. "Troy, Kerri, Jerome and I have gained so much out this intense collaboration. It has developed into a deep friendship that is all about house music, good vibes and pride in our achievements. Each of us is fulfilled by our individual roles in this project. I'm really proud to be part of this family."
Christine Pedersen, managing director of Ibadan Records, is excited about Quin's first release on the label. "It's always a pleasure to welcome new and talented collaborators into the fold. And I love the new vocal. Troy's singing brings a fresh spin to the track."

Kerri grew up in the New Jersey area during the days of the infamous Zanzibar club with resident DJ Tony Humpries. Kerri's father was a DJ as well, which gave Kerri a rich background in the origins of the New York Underground Sound (known also as "Garage" music). He made his DJ debut at the Rally Record Club in East Orange, New Jersey at the age of thirteen.
Kerri eventually found himself intrigued with the production element in dance music and soon began to create his own grooves on his self-label, Express Records. In 1991, Atlantic Records signed his debut single, "SuperLover/Get It Off." Despite his success, Kerri Chandler has always remained true to the spirit of the underground on tracks such as the "Atmosphere E.P." on Shelter Records and the seminal, "A Basement, Redlight and A Feeling" album on Madhouse.
Kerri prays before making a record, and injects his free spirit into his
productions. With a solid education in Garage grooves, Kerri takes vocals, rhythms and instruments and with uncanny precision pieces them together, delivering beautiful, monster jams. In the expanses of his breaks the odd counter rhythm will inexplicably appear for a second and then disappear, creating fleshy excitement, not mechanical repetition. His basslines go from heavy and heady to playful and quirky--always deliriously intoxicating. His hooks are loving details like horn hits, washes of synthesizer or catchy choruses that emerge to create songs from a maddening bulldozer of brutal drive. Here the dreamer takes hold, transporting us into a dimension of seemingly endless travel....

Jerome Sydenham's illustrious music career took off in the late eighties when he joined the prestigious A & R division at Atlantic Records. During this time Jerome worked with mega stars, ranging from En Vogue to Ten City. His interest in the underground house scene was also burgeoning. In 1995 Sydenham formed the label Ibadan Records and his DJ career went international, producing records and touring with legends Joe Claussell and Kerri Chandler. By the time Sydenham and his imprint Ibadan hit the millennium he was pioneering a fresh soulful tech-house sound with his co-producer Dennis Ferrer, hence the launch of the Ibadan Ten Inch Beats series which includes the legendary "Sandcastles" (defected/ibadan).
