A square bass, a catchy marimba hook and some vocal sprinkles make for the aural equivalent of salted caramel. Next up are everyone’s favourite peak time sweepers Dusky who open the gates to the rave. Heavily influenced by the ingredients of the proto UK bass scenery (breakbeats, ragga bass sounds, life-affirming vocals) they place Modern Romance somewhere between N-Joi and Shut Up and Dance. Gerd Janson runs the German label Running Back (originally with Thorsten Scheu (aka Glance)). He often plays at Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson where he has hosted the Liquid club nights together with DJ heavyweight Thomas Hammann for the past few years. He has done some excellent remixes under the names `Tuff City Kids' and `Pink Alert' and is an active member of the Red Bull Music Academy.
