Last FM Information on Dave Congreve

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
Having been inspired by trips to Detroit's legendary Music Institute and Chicago's Shelter, where he saw Richie Hawtin, Derrick May and Derrick Carter respectively, Dave started his own night in Nottingham (Ask Yer Dad) in the early '90's and was one of the first clubs to book guests who shared Dave's vision of house and techno such as John Aquaviva, Josh Wink, and the aforementioned Derrick Carter. Dave was subsequently offered the residency at 'Drop the Bomb' on Saturdays at Nottingham's Bomb nightclub which started in 1997. It was at The Bomb that Dave was the featured DJ on the Radio 1 Essential Mix Live, and during his time there regularly played alongside international DJs such as Steve Bug, Craig Richards, Derrick May, Carl Craig and also Andrew Weatherall. It is through the mutual respect he has with Andrew Weatherall that Dave was asked to be the support DJ on the last Two Lone Swordsmen tour. Whilst at The Bomb he was simultaneously pushing the boundaries of what he, and his audience were experiencing, and developing the his own unique vision, blurring the boundaries of house, techno and electronic music, subsequently developing the distinctive sound of The Bomb. There were much lorded sets of pitched down techno and tracked out house where Dave developed and moved towards the realms of his early techno influences, culminating in his increasingly minimal sound and approach to music. Dave creates increasing ways of layering and working records and has often been complimented on his unique approach to his DJ sets. This has brought him to the attention of clubs such as Fabric where he guests regularly, Haywire and also many other clubs in London including The End, Back2basics, gigs at Sonar in Barcelona and other various clubs in Europe. Dave now is a fortnightly resident at 'Stealth" in Nottingham where he's played alongside Magda, Luciano and Matthew Jonson. In 2005 Dave ventured into as Repeat Repeat. The first release, "Bounce Your Body to The Box" EP on Soma in August 2005 garnered much critical acclaim. The sound has been quoted as "demented machine funk" and "deep, undulating, minimal techno". The debut album "Squints" released Nov 06, is still on everyones playlist and more recent releases from the album have included mixes form Andrew Weatherall and Gaiser. Repeat/Repeat have also produced remixes for Andrew Weatherall's "Can't Do Disco..." on the Bullet Catchers Apprentice EP and a remix for LGO's "I'll Like your Spine" on Pnuma. Dave continues to record his own music , currently collaborating in the studio with Steve Boardman (Boardroom/Klang Electronic/Playhouse). Together they have remixed Two Lone Swordsman for Rotters Golf Club and Brett Johnson for Leftroom Recordings (both to be released early 2008) and are working on forthcoming releases of original material. He continues to DJ at top international clubs and is also resident at the ubercool Shoreditch Sunday party "Dig Your Own Rave" at the T-Bar in London. Read more on Last.fm.
