4 Tracks 4 Artists of Vocal House, Deep House, Soulful House - The Sound Of Slip ’n’ Slide, Vol. 1 launches a brand-new series from the legendary Slip ’n’ Slide catalogue, bringing together a selection of timeless house and deep house cuts from some of the genre’s most respected artists.

Featuring standout productions from Blaze, Cassio Ware, Black Rascals and Alex & Rai, the release captures the soulful, vocal-led sound that helped define underground house music across the 90s and beyond. Including favourites such as Blaze’s Moonwalk and Cassio Ware featuring Sajaeda’s Fantasy (Klubhead Mix), this first volume brings together a selection of proven dancefloor records in one DJ-friendly vinyl package.

With warm grooves, uplifting vocals and timeless club arrangements throughout, these tracks continue to resonate with both long-time house collectors and DJs looking for reliable dancefloor material.

As the first edition in The Sound Of Slip ’n’ Slide series, this release offers a strong opening chapter for the new compilation run, now available on fresh black 12” vinyl. A strong catalogue addition for stores supporting classic house, deep house and soulful underground sounds.

Since acquiring the bulging back catalogue of long-running UK house label Slip 'N' Slide late last decade, Defected has wisely offered up numerous reissues and retrospectives. Here they inaugurate a new series of archive deep dives, The Sound of Slip 'N' Slide, via a fine four-track selection of classics and rarities. First, they take us back to 1993 and the soulful garage-house breeze of 'Keeping My Mind' by Black Rascals (AKA Blaze's Josh Milan and Kevin Hedge), before sharing Cassio Ware's even deeper and more seductive 1994 gem 'Fantasy (Klubhead Mix)'. Turn to the flip for some classic Blaze (the dreamy and spacey deep house hypnotism of Moon Walk') and the vintage 'US garage' smoothness of Alex & Rai's 'For The Love of You (classic vocal mix)'.

Cassio James Vincent Ware II was born in Newark (Brick City) New Jersey. It all started in his grammar school days. The cass master was scolded for rapping, writing poetry and short stories instead of doing his homework. Cassio's uncle had a collection of old classics and light tracks that dated back to the early forties. This is where his education in music would begin. He studied classical piano for two years, but his ears were hearing other grooves. His father,a Bishop, told him to play the piano in the early morning service. This must have been the day God gave Cassio his gift of playing by ear, because that's exactly what he did with the help of Kevin Hedge & Josh Milan of BLAZE,and his Back ROOM Music Production partners Derick Jenkins ,Dwayne(SPEN) Richardson & the diva treo JOMANDA. This artist/producer/DJ/Remixer has many talents, such as singing, song writing, music production, drawing and dancing. As a dynamic fusion artist, mental massage therapist and personal trainer, he has put together some fantastic fashion shows and has modeled as well. Cassio has now taken that knowledge of showmanship and put it to use in his own performances. It's a sight to see unlike any other. The group behind him at his shows have been known to set fire to a stage. They're called Pa-book-ka's groove, named after his Grandfather, Booker T. Tensley, who inspired him early in life. In this new era of sound, he classifies his as "Groove Music". This incorporates all forms of music including Jazz, Funk, Gospel, African, R&B, Urban Ghetto Soul and Alternative sounds which he and his partners DJ Crime, Dough Boy, The Legendary Chip-E from Chicago and the rest of the O.G. have created. Cassio WARE has also worked with LITTLE LOUIE VEGA and KENNY DOPE of MASTER'S AT WORK. Cassio Ware has also toured all over the world and is well known in the underground dance community. Last FM Information on Blaze

There are multiple artists called Blaze: 1. Blaze (New Jersey, USA), a house production team from 1984 onwards. It was formed by Josh Milan, Kevin Hedge, and Chris Herbert, when Herbert introduced Milan, a member of his church choir, to Hedge, his childhood friend. Ironically, Herbert was the one who left the group in 1991, leaving Milan and Hedge to keep working together. The group's output consists mainly of house-music tracks with heavy gospel, soul and afrobeat influences (sometimes referred to as gospel house). When the group started, Herbert was the singer, with Milan playing the piano, and Hedge on production. After Herbert left, both Hedge and Milan started to share production duties, vocals, and playing most of the instruments of the group's tracks and albums. The group achieved notoriety with its remix of Lisa Stansfield's "People Hold On" in 1989, after signing with the Motown/MCA Records. Blaze released its debut album, 25 Years Later, in 1990, after which Herbert decided to move to a more R&B-oriented career, while the two remaining members invested in the emerging club culture, opening a nightclub called Shelter. In 1994, the group scored its first big international production success with De'Lacy's "Hideaway," which was later remixed by Deep Dish. Since then, Blaze released three more albums, alongside a few scattered compilations of earlier productions and works and countless singles. The group also began working with other well-known names such as "Little" Louie Vega, Barbara Tucker, Jody Watley, and Full Intention. It is best known to modern audiences by its singles featuring Palmer Brown on vocals, the oft-remixed "My Beat," and the tribute anthem "I Remember House." Blaze's most recent album, released in 2005, is a mix compilation title called Found Love. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.
