Three decades in, Freerange doesn't look back - it expands. 30 Years Of Freerange - 30 tracks from 30 artists across Five EPs. A slow-burn rollout culminating in a beautiful boxset meticulously assembled to outlast trends, algorithms, and short attention spans. A handpicked cross-section of the Freerange continuum from artists who've shaped the sound alongside up and coming voices pushing it somewhere new.

As you may be aware, Freerange Records is celebrating its 30th birthday by stretching 30 tracks by 30 artists across five must-check EPs. Volume two is an action-packed affair, with side A sporting killer cuts from Brazilian maestro Aroop Roy (the deep, squelchy shuffle of 'We Are The People'), Coflo (the superb acid house soul of 'Unlocked') and Canadian stalwart Fred Everything (the typically deep, warm and tactile 'Elysium'). Over on the flip, Dutch twosome Fouk delivers deep house timelessness ('Moon'), Matt Masters gets sunset-ready (the gorgeous and melodious 'Everywhere at Once'), and label newcomer Radic The Mystic charges off into space (the futurist deep house shimmer of 'Forest of White Trees').

Aroop Roy is a producer, musician and label head, who joins the dots between electronic music and borderless organic sounds. From house, disco and techno to jazz, funk and Afrobeat, he has enjoyed universal acclaim as a producer and DJ. Aroop's eclectic productions have become a mainstay for DJs across scenes and generations, with Gilles Peterson calling him 'a brilliant producer, who never fails'. In recent years, he has been high in demand as a remixer, working for both underground and major labels. Like his productions, his sets are full of personality and style and have earned him a growing reputation as a uniquely gifted DJ. In 2022, he closed We Out Here Festival with Mr Scruff who described Aroop as a 'ridiculously skilled selector, musically able to move in any direction with ease'. As an eclectic digger and tastemaker, he has recorded guest mixes for the likes of Gilles Peterson, Freerange Records, CO-OP, Jazz FM and BBC 6 Music's Craig Charles Funk & Soul show. In 2023, Aroop is enjoying huge momentum, fully booked through to summer 2023, with headline sets at Fabric, Printworks, Defected Croatia, Hi Ibiza and Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival all in the diary as well as being invited by the legendary Mr Scruff for a B2B tour. He has forthcoming EPs on Mele's Club Bad label and Jimpster's Freerange records, as well as several big remixes. Aroop's label Vive La Musique has focussed on quality over quantity, with reissues and reworks of rare eclectic sounds from around the world from Caribbean zouk and Congolese Rumba to French jazz-fusion and South soul. All releases have been celebrated by major tastemakers across the scene with the latest offering "In the Fast Lane" receiving rave reviews for uncovering the historical connections between french virtuoso Jean-Luc Ponty and the Detroit techno movement. Last FM Information on Fouk

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
We just say Fouk. For Daniel Leseman & Junktion (Hans Peeman), successful producers on their own merits and friends since childhood, a collaboration was inevitable. Their house sound infused with disco and a lot of funk has been proven to be very infectious. After the infamous Detroit Swindle signed them to their Heist imprint and released the booming Kill Frenzy EP their name was established firmly to a broad and quickly growing audience. The result was requests for DJ sets across Europe, the America’s & Australia with personal highlights including Glastonbury, LoveBox, Concrete Paris, Output New York, Club Space Miami, Claire and De Marktkantine in Amsterdam. Their first vinyl release as Fouk, on their own Outplay Records was met with great enthusiasm, the brilliant reactions to ‘Stuff Your Dad Liked’ and ‘Cat Lady’ propelled Fouk and Outplay firmly into the scene as the ‘one to watch’. Since then they’ve released EP’s on Room With A View, The House of Disco and Razor-n-Tape and made a string of strong remixes for the likes of Kraak & Smaak, Smoove & Turrell, Groove Armada, The Brand New Heavies, Luke Million, Joey Negro and Mayer Hawthorne. After releasing ‘Release The Kraken EP’ featuring Thumpasaurus on The House of Disco, ‘Truffles EP’ on Heist Recordings in 2019 and two EP’s on their own Outplay offshoot ’24 Carrot’ they return again on Heist in 2021 with ‘Blue Steel EP’. Continuing to build on the sound they have evolved throughout the years with a new impulse of creativity. Read more on Last.fm.
