DESCRIPTION:
Vocal Euro Dance from 2000 Repressed - Samples "Spacer" by Sheila & B. Devotion.

While now phenomenally successful in their home country (and elsewhere in Europe), Swedish disco-house/dance-pop fusionists Alcazar first made their mark way back in 2000 with 'Crying At The Discotheque' - a massive crossover hit co-produced by Johan S (Rhythm Inc.) and dance-pop don Anders Hansson. This Dance on The Beat reissue brings together the best of the various versions released at the dawn of the Millennium. On side A, the full extended mix - a chunky, disco-sampling delight that sits somewhere between French Touch and Chic - comes accompanied by the familiar radio edit. Over on side B, there's a chance to enjoy Johan S's largely vocal-free 'Detox Dub' and Pinocchio's 2001 'Tesco Mix' - a colorful, trance-infused Euro-dance revision of the type often associated with UK producers Motiv8 and Trouser Enthusiasts.

Alcazar is a Eurodance / Pop group from Sweden consisting of Andreas Lundstedt, Therese Merkel ("Tess") and Lina Hedlund. Former members Annika Kjærgaard and Magnus Carlsson left in 2005. Alcazar have become one of Sweden's most popular and successful groups since their début single was released back in 1999. They have scored 13 top 40 hits in Sweden including 2 number ones and 8 top 10 hits. Alcazar are also well known for their participation in the Swedish Eurovision pre-selection contest 'Melodifestivalen' - having competed a total of 5 times (2003 - "Not a Sinner, Nor a Saint," 2005 - "Alcastar," 2009 - "Stay the Night," 2010 - "Headlines," 2014 - "Blame It On The Disco"). Alcazar reformed in July 2007 to perform at the London Astoria as part of a celebration of Swedish music masterminded by producer Alexander Bard of Army of Lovers fame. Alcazar took a break in August 2011 after a concert at Stockholm Pride. They announced their comeback and participation in Melodifestivalen 2014 in late 2013. They have released three studio albums and one compilation. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
