Submerge refers to at least 4 artists: 1) An electronic/techno DJ from Chicago. 2) Submerge was a hardcore/screamo/crust band from France. 3) A Richmond, VA based rock band who gained a decent following from 1996~2001 before breaking up to get "real jobs." Drummer, Tony Thaxton, went on to join Motion City Soundtrack in 2002 and was followed by bassist Matthew Taylor, previous to the release of "I Am The Movie." Singer and guitarist, Justin Bailey went on play in several bands, Mazarin and Delegate among them. Currently, he is in a band called Eons. 4) Submerge is an Underground HipHop Crew , consisting of Wormhole, Qwerus & 3.14 currently on the New Cocoon Label. Three emcees with wildly different styles, that seemed to gel and mesh perfectly, complimenting each other musically on a level that was beyond pure chance. It was decided on day one that we were going to be a group, and that we were going to dedicate a significant amount of our time, money, and energy into creating the best music we could possibly make. Music that we want to hear, music that we’re not getting anywhere else. The idea was to just do something we could sit, listen to, and enjoy, and hopefully others like yourself could to.
