Releases by sirenes

British electronic female duo active between 1996-97, consisting of Kate Holmes (ex-Frazier Chorus, Scuba, and later of Technique and Client) and Sophie Barker (future Groove Armada and Zero 7 vocalist). They released three singles (Blind, Sun Don't Shine, Deep End) and a promo album sampler was issued, but no album was released. They were signed to the big beat/dance label, Higher Ground (home to Leftfield, Grooverider, DJ Rap) and worked with David Arnold, Mad Professor (Massive Attack) and Smith & Mighty during their tenure. Musically, they incorporated electronic, drum n bass, downbeat, chillout and orchestral styles. Visually, they can be viewed as some what of a pre-cursor to Holmes' Client work, with group photography featuring only shoes, legs and other fragments of the members, rather than full-blown shots of the group.
