Releases by pancake
There are at least five bands called "Pancake": A dungeon-pop band from New Orleans, a german psychedelic group, a thai band, a dutch producers duo of house music and an American punk band.
The New Orleans based band has five musicians. They are a blend of noise pop, post-punk, and influence from 90's alt rock and post-rock. Imagine Built to Spill makin' babies with Tortoise. Not a Tortoise, the band tortoise. Yeah Pancake is awesome.
The german band Nyrvana Pancake were founded in 1970 at Winnenden, a town located close to Stuttgart. They released one of the best German psychedelic singles, nothing else more. After having shortened their name to Pancake, they released three LPs: “Roxy elephant” in 1975, “Out of the ashes” in 1978, and “No illusions” in 1979. Their style, as well as their line-up, often changed. The only one of the line-up who stayed until the end was Walter Negele. Drummer Günther Konopik left after their first LP. He went to Anyone’s Daughter, where he remained for some years. Though on “Roxy elephant” there are no keyboards, one can clearly hear symphonic echoes. The first edition of “Roxy elephant” is traded expensively. Reasonable good priced is, in comparison, the re-issue on Blubber Lips (of 1978) which is more often available.
The thai band Pancake plays pop rock with ska and Hip hop influences.
The dutch Pancake consists of Olav Basoski and DJ Erick E. Their first single Don't Turn Your Back On Me was released on their own Amsterdam based Work Records. It was remixed by many, like Armin van Buuren, Sander van Doorn and themselves. Other tracks by Pancake include See The Stars and Let You Go.
The American band hails from Pittsburgh and contains members of The Short dark Strangers , Plastered bastards , Impulse items , Submachine , The Gary Abuseys , Ton-a-Brick.
