Modjo was a French house music duo formed in Paris in 1999 by producer Romain Tranchart and singer Yann Destagnol. The group gained international recognition with the release of the single "Lady (Hear Me Tonight)" in 2000. They also released the songs "Chillin'" and "No More Tears" in 2001, both of which achieved commercial success. Romain Tranchart was born on 9 June 1976 in Paris. He spent parts of his childhood in Algeria, Mexico, and Brazil. While living abroad, he began learning the guitar, with an early interest in jazz. In 1998, under the name Funk Legacy, he released his debut single "What You're Gonna Do, Baby" through Vertigo Records. He later pursued studies at the American School of Modern Music in Paris. Yann Destagnol, born on 14 July 1978 in Paris, started his musical education with the flute and clarinet. Over time, he developed interests in pop and rock music, citing influences such as the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and David Bowie. He also taught himself drums, piano, and guitar. Destagnol began songwriting and recording on a four-track recorder and later explored vocal styles influenced by various pop and R&B artists. Read more on Last.fm.
