1) Genre-defining Heavy/Doom-Metal band from Sweden. The first two full-length releases featured Messiah Marcolin on vocals. Looking for a heavier direction, Messiah decided to leave the band and joined Candlemass. They are often dismissed or mentioned in passing, instead of being acknowledged as a strong band with a unique vision. Andrija Veljaca (Witchking) was the sole constant member of the band since its inception. He carried Mercy onward until his untimely demise in August 25th 2005, meaning Mercy is now defunct.
2) American one-hit wonder pop group from Florida. They released an album in 1969 entitled Mercy - Love Can Make You Happy; this peaked at #38 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 200 chart[1] as a result of the success of their hit single, "Love (Can Make You Happy)". The tune spent two weeks at #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and also peaked at #2 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
3) Metal band from Brazil. Formed in 2003, Mercy purportedly recorded a handful of songs, but only released one, "Kingdom of Holiness", which appears on the Extreme Metal compilation "Underground Rot 2" from Dysmorphic Records. The "group," such as it was, has never been heard from again.
4) Queens based rapper affiliated with J-Love.
5) 80s Christian metal band.
