Releases by mercury
There are at least four artists known as Mercury:
1. A Swiss house duo with prominent releases on Gomma.
2. A rock band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
3. A South Korean Girl Group.
4. A late-1980's heavy metal band from Cleveland, Ohio.

Mercury is two guys. Mel, a former Hip-Hop DJ who recently discovered his love for gay rock music and ethno-influenced 80s synthesizer pop. Then Simon, actually a drummer who is still deep into UK 2-step music from the early post-millennium era.
They both look like birds. Mel like a turkey. Simon like the cartoon bird on MTV who gets killed a million times by the angry cat. Together they play and produce neoclassic House music. For the rest of us it means: soulful, sometimes even gospel-ish, drum and percussion oriented, bass driven House with a slight vintage timbre. Cool stuff, you know.

With their eye-opening full length debut CD, mercury has turned heads and garnered high praise from press and radio outlets across the northeast. A hard work ethic along with dedication and pride in their live show have helped secure a strong and loyal army of mercury fans and supporters. If it is rock you seek, it is rock you shall find.
"Mercury's self titled album is a strong effort from this Pittsburgh band. The album's opening track "Superhero" displays the bands talented song writing abilities with a hook that will be stuck into your head after just one listen. After that, the tracks "Falling Star" and "Ghosts & Angels" are equally impressive, showing that this band has an all around great sound. With emotion filled lyrics, and great musicianship, Mercury's album is strong from start to finish. Each song brings its own unique elements, with perfectly arranged guitars, and vocals that rival many of today's prominent bands. In a world where many of today's unsigned bands seem to blend together, Mercury clearly stands out from the pack. Its only a matter of time before these guys get the recognition they deserve."

Mercury was a heavy metal band formed and active in Cleveland, Ohio from 1988 to 1993.
Mercury contributed the track "Echoes In The Night" to the "Distant Thunder: Sounds Of The Cleveland Metal Storm" cassette compilation, released on November 30, 1990. They regularly performed in Ohio alongside local acts like BeyonDévon, Mutant Soldier, H.A.T.E., Nitefall, Vatican, Bison, Lanz End, Medalyon, and others.
After a six-month hiatus to search for a second guitarist, Mercury recruited Byron Nemeth from Sacred Heart and Mayhem in the summer of 1989. They recorded a two-song promo tape in September but faced the departure of drummer David Davison, who was later replaced by David Davies. The band officially announced its return in Heavy Metal Demolition zine (issue #34, July 1990) with an extensive feature outlining their history, a mini-interview, and their new lineup's promotional photo. Their live comeback happened on July 13, 1990, at The Phantasy Theater in Cleveland, sharing the stage with Raging Grace, Breaker, Nitefall, and H.A.T.E., receiving positive reviews in local zines like The Iron Planet and The Patrol.
Following the split with Byron Nemeth in March 1991, Mercury continued as a four-piece, returning to the live scene with headlining shows on March 14 and 15, 1991, in Cleveland. They released their demo "Mercury" limited to 1000 copies with a release party at The Phantasy Theater on August 9, 1991, gaining international attention, notably a three-page feature in the German heavy metal zine Heavy oder Was? in Spring 1992. Despite growing interest locally and abroad, the band disbanded in early 1993 without further releases.
Throughout their career, Mercury penned about three albums' worth of material, including unreleased songs like "Tonight," "Wings Of Steel," "Inside Me," "One Last Kiss," among others. These tracks remained unrecorded, although some had been performed live by prior bands associated with members of Mercury.
