Releases by mean

There is more than one artist known as MEAN. 1) MEAN ambient / electronic / post-rock duo from New Zealand 2) Mean pop / alternative / electro band from Philladelphia, USA formed in year 2006. 3) MEAN (Middle Earth All Nighters) band from Antwerp, Belgium formed in year 2013 On last.fm it can also refer to Taylor Swift's song called Mean. 1) MEAN is the project of Jeff Boyle (Jakob) and H.Walker (Avotor, Kerretta). The duo released their debut album Knowing in December 2012. On the album that has been in the works for nearly five years, the duo combine elements of their previous work to create landscapes through a mixture of electronic ambience and heavy guitar-driven post-rock. http://meanmusic.bandcamp.com/ 2) MEAN is the new sound of Philly, from happy hour to after hours. The duo hails from the City of Brotherly Love and has been collaborating since October 2006. The dance pop that the band creates is reminiscent of the sounds of Gwen Stefani, M.I.A., and Gravy Train. MEAN began working on their full length album, Fake Believe, in spring 2009. That April, the band had the chance to sit with Lily Allen after her Philly show, for a drink and an exchange about music. Since meeting Allen, their music has packed a noticeable extra punch. MEAN’s catchy club anthem, “New Jawn”, was released April 26th, 2011 on the pair’s bandcamp page (http://wearesomean.bandcamp.com/). They have since released sample songs from Fake Believe for individual download. MEAN’s unique sound landed them their first major show, opening for Freezepop at the North Star Bar in Philadelphia (June 1st, 2011). The band’s album was released digitally on August 2, 2011. The entire album is available for free download on their bandcamp page. Read more on Last.fm.
