There is more than one band with this name. 1) 'The Jolt' formed mid '76 around Glasgow, Scotland as a four piece, then a three piece mod/punk band. 2) The band 'Jolt' whose 'Lullaby/Jalopy' 7" single is pictured here was formed in the San Francisco Bay area in 1992. Originally consisting of singer/bassist and principal songwriter Paul Duarte, Drummer Jim Pittman (formerly of Slambodians and later of The Mr.T Experience), and guitarist Karl Matthies (formerly of Slambodians). Jolt released several songs on various labels with this lineup. Jim and Karl were later replaced and Paul Duarte went on to record several more singles as Jolt with various other members. Although Paul Duarte had an inherent genius for writing pop-punk songs, his personal demons dominated his life. In 1997 at the age of 25, 1 year after the final jolt 7" was released,he was admitted to a drug rehab fighting a severe heroin addiction. Although many sincere attempts were made at recovery, sobriety was just something he could not grasp. In 1998 after selling his last Fender Bass for a fix, he overdosed in Greenwich Village, New York and while driving down the Roosevelt Highway he fell out behind the wheel and hit the back of a city bus that was stopped in traffic, totalling the Dodge Shadow he was living in. He was admitted to Bellvue Emergency Ward suffering multiple head contusions. It is not known whether or not he is still alive today. But he is believed to be living on the streets in Manhattan... a junkie still, a genius no more. 3) 'Jolt' were the band Mark Keds started after the demise of the Senseless Things in 1996 with B.B. (aka Lenie) Mets (formerly of Comrade and Mambo Taxi) on bass/vocals and Martin Shaw on drums, who was later replaced by Spiky T. Smith.
