Hailed by the New York Times as a “promising young keyboardist, deeply attuned to pop production and orchestration,” Jason Domnarski has been an active member of the NYC downtown music scene for several years. His music reflects the eclecticism of the city, combining rock, jazz and electronic styles with unique piano sounds and innovative production. At home in both rock and jazz clubs, JDT has performed at some of NYC’s best venues, including Jazz Standard, Blue Note, National Arts Club, NUBLU, and a residency at famed Lower East Side venue Rockwood Music Hall. The trio’s first CD, ‘Notes from Underground’, garnered high praise from critics and fans alike and firmly established the band as a force to be reckoned with in the jazz world. JDT joins the Ropeadope family with their latest CD, ‘Inventing the Wheel’, and takes their sonic and compositional exploration even further, creating a fitting statement from one of New York City’s most original young pianists.
Aaron Nevezie, a guitarist, bassist, producer, and engineer with a taste for innovative sounds and creative fusions, has been a constant collaborator in the New York City jazz and rock community for more than 10 years. Raised in Auckland, New Zealand, Aaron began his professional career with the “Best Jazz Album” at the 1999 New Zealand Music Awards for the Chris White and Aaron Nevezie Quartet. Since that time, he has played guitar and bass with such diverse artists as Ambulance Ltd (TVT), Nicole Atkins (Columbia), and Natalie Walker (Doarado).
In 2006, Aaron and partner John Davis opened the Bunker Studio in Brooklyn, New York. He produced and engineered Jason Domnarski’s Notes from Underground, as well as albums by Phonograph, Dred Scott, Tim Collins, Erik Deutsch, Natalie Walker, Gilad Dobrecky, Christina Courtin, Avi-Fox Rosen, and Matt Dorrien.
Currently, Aaron is a member of the jazz-rock outfit JDT; Mouchette, led by Philly-singer Natalie Walker; and electro-spacerock band Special Patrol.
David Mason was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1976; having started to play the drums at age eleven, he went on to study music in Cologne, Germany and at the New School in New York, settling there in 1997. Since then he has recorded and
performed with several artists, touring the states and Canada with British soul singer James Hunter (HearNow Records), and Natalie Walker (Dorado Records). Dave has also performed with jazz legends such as Art Farmer, Charles McPherson and Jean Toussaint, and regularly performs at NYC venues such as the Blue Note, Jazz Standard, and Nublu.
