1). Interceptor are an American speed metal band from Charleston, South Carolina, formed in 2022 by bassist and vocalist Blake Arenvurst.
Interceptor released their first demo, Thrashing Violence, on July 23, 2022, containing the title track, “Hatred,” and “Into the Hellmouth.” Their second demo, Nuclear Devastation, came a year later in February of 2023, and a compilation was made of the two demos, entitled Demo Tapes 1 & 2 (alternatively released as Interceptor Demo). The singles “Witch’s Dance” and “Into the Hellmouth” (a new version) was released in late 2023 and early 2024 respectively. Interceptor’s debut album, Tales of Mayhem, was released on June 22, 2024.
The band embarked on a successful tour to promote the album, and released a new single, “Sorceress,” on October 31, 2024. Interceptor eventually found its footing after numerous lineup changes—now having guitarist Johnny Faiella and drummer Elijah Hicks—and an instrument switch from Arenvurst (guitarist to bassist).
On February 13, 2025, Interceptor announced plans for a new tour, entitled the Metal Death American Tour. The band would announce their second studio album, Metal Death, a week later. It was revealed that it would be released on May 9, 2025, with Interceptor citing that their previous record was a “surefire tribute,” possibly acknowledging critics that mention their similarities to that of legendary speed metal band Venom. The band would release a single from the upcoming album on March 26, 2025, entitled “Fire.”
