Releases by glass
1) Glass was active in the mid '70's but they released their first album in 2001. "No Stranger to the Skies" is their belated debut, a double CD recorded in 1973-75 and finally released in 2001. The first CD is a studio album, and the second is a set of recordings made "live" during the band's practice sessions, but is a very high quality recording nonetheless. They have appeared at the new ProgWest rock festival in 2001, Baja Prog in 2002, and they put together The Progman Cometh festival in 2002 (where they, of course played) as well. In 2005 with the release of their new studio album, "Illuminations", they showed not only how the band has changed in the 27 years since their last recording, but also how much they stayed true to their original '70's vision. Much of their work can be characterized by Canterbury jazz-rock influences and space rock.
Band Members: Jeff Sherman (Guitars, Vocals), Jerry Cook (Drums), Greg Sherman (Acoustic & Electric Pianos, Mellotron, Hammond Organ)
2) Formed in York in mid-2008 by songwriter, singer and guitarist Alexander King from the ashes of the popular rock band AKP, GLASS represents a total change in every way from what has gone before. Truly art-driven and avant garde but without losing sight of melody and songcraft, GLASS also promise a theatrical, dramatic live show and a need to push boundaries.
Compared to Roxy Music, The Cult, Wire, Christian Death, Talking Heads, Magazine and Pixies among others, GLASS are a new, old-fashioned dark sound of hope for people who require something deeper from their music.
