In Sydney, from whence they hail originally, Etherfox began as [love] tattoo with DJ Stephen Allkins, producing some of the biggest house anthems to come out of Oz in the last decade, the Fat Boy Slim hammered 'Drop some Drums' and jazzy house classic, the 11 minute 'The Bass has got me movin' (also known as 'The DJ can go pee pee' song). After that debacle ended - for Shave and Antigone anyway - Etherfox was essentially conceived as a live electronic act performing at random underground parties in ridicul-ass outfits with questionable intentions. In 2003 they got it together and released what is now considered as a latin house classic 'The Whirled you Live' through Hussle Recordings/Ministry of Sound. Whirled became a staple of Ibiza's summer diet of 2003, in the boxes of Simon Dunmore, Alister Whitehead and Audiowhores. It was licensed by Blanco y Negro for Spain, Drizzly for Gas, remixed by Jamie Lewis and also did the biz in their homeland getting playlisted on commercial radio, charting at No 3 on the ARIA dance charts and receiving 2 nominations for the national Dance Music Awards. Encouraged by the international response to their music and seeking a bigger pond, they upped the ante in 2004 and moved to London where they are now based. They have performed at Pacha London and Honeyclub Brighton for Hed Kandi as well as at various parties and bars around London. In Australia they were regularly booked for Home, Gas, ARQ and The Prince in Melbourne (for Onelove).
