1.Beaner is an unsigned band from Finland playind all kinds of rock music with flavors of indie, punk, pop and whatever ight happen to get involved in the mix. The group was started originally already 1996 by Jukka Haukirauma, Jukka Konttinen and Ville Kulo. The current lineup also features Juho Pirhonen for guitar and Samu Jokiaho for vocals.
Happened so far:
1996: Three friends facinated about all kinds of rock decided to form a band, that gets named as Downmind, later to Robin, and finally converted for shady reasons to what it is today; Beaner. The inventor of the name denies all accusations of any positive or negative meaning withing the name, - quote; " It just was a cool word, for ***** sake!". True or not, it stuck so it stayed. At this time, the current bassartist Juki played guitar and sang, drummer Jukka played bass, and only Ville had found his calling with his guitar.
1998: After several – morally legendary – straight punkrocksongs, the band experienced a kick forward as the lead guitarist Jp joined the band. Alongside him emerged ambitious leads, half-solos, solos and harmonies in a way never seen before. After joining, Jp has been highly resposible for the bands enhanced performance, as well as many newborn favourite songs...
2002: The singer for some time – Aapo Juusti – got called to serve in the army, and the replacement was found from Helsinki University, in the form of Juki's bud, Samu. The windy singer's post got filled (again), and by suprise, the still living classic lineup of the band was formed. Easy is not quite the word to describe what happened then, as "The 303 Demo" from the same year proves... made in haste and absolutely with no knowledge what so ever; it serves best as frisbee.
2003: As an instant fix to the failure, a 16-song live cd was recorded during the insanely busy spring tour. And admittedly it is of a ridiculous quality, but also strangely sincere and hilarious with it's strange intros, screwups and odd energy.
2004: By the next spring, it was time to put out "The Mansion Days", recorded at a mansion-like house of a friend of ours, Joonas Naskali (technoartist Retro Star). The impressive covers made by the bands silent member Samuli Landen got it attention maybe more than it deserved, and as the musical outcome was still a bit light and unfinished, the decision to record more soon got made faster then one can say studio. By late autumn, "Plan B" was ready and out, sounding better than ever and looking better than ever, once again thanks to Samuli. The improved mixing and sound is all thanks to Janne "The Boss" Joutsenniemi of SubUrban Tribe, who recorded us at The MD Studio in Munkkiniemi. He truly is a professional in the most positive sense of the word.
2005: After some enjoyable gigs, in December we headed straight back to our previous recording location, to the MD studios in Munkkiniemi... to continue our co operation with the same man behind the mixing board. The result, "Hells Triangle" turned out to be maybe the first fully presentable thing we've been able to whip out.. so, listen and judge for your self before we come up to with something else ;)
2: Beaner is a master at losing mobile phones and staying awake for long periods of time without the aid of stimulants. He enjoys masturbation, difficulty, overcoming odds, and tear-jerking finales. Together with C.L.A.W.S. he is WarVsSleep and is one third of supergroup the 3 Good Doctors with Agaric and Ed Davenport.
Born in the depths of a Tajikistan prison, to a priest and a prisoner, Beaners life was never meant to be lived. One botched abortion later, screams and cries were heard round the world. A star is born! Raised later by wolves and the Jim Jones Peoples Temple he heard the calling through howls and shared cult hymns. Its MUSIC time!!! (not unlike the kool-aid man bursting through the walls). The Circus- San Francisco. The Generator- London. The Vieux Port- Marsielles. The Tufts Campus Arts House- Boston. The ABC No Rio- New York. The Gutter- Seattle. All just stops on the rollercoaster ride to Berlin. And Wildly Unchecked Success! A Residency at Bar25 (the studio 54 of the sexting generation) and releases on a smattering of recording labels followed. And the world cooed, like a dirty, dirty bitch. 2011 will bring the launch of anarcho-situationist cult-label-brigade "La Mission (kunst/WORK)". The stars will melt and we will drink them from our cups. Revolución!
Oh, honey please dont give your heart to a world system based on exploitation of the luckless, give you heart to US!
