Aurra was a 1980s soul group formed from Slave by Steve Washington. At the time of what many consider their biggest success-- with hits like Make Up Your Mind and Checking You Out-- the group was comprised of Washington, Curt Jones, Starleana Young and Phil Field. The band started off in 1980 signing to Dream Records and then Salsoul Records. A deal with Virgin offshoot Ten Records gave them success with songs such as the 1986 UK singles chart hit You and Me Tonight. Legal issues over the name Aurra made Curt and Starleana change their name to Deja and with this name they only managed to reach number 75 with the Monte Moir penned single Serious. Starleana Young left the group to go solo, and was replaced by Mysti Day. Read more on Last.fm.
