1159 is a britpop band from various parts of England, who met and formed in Sydney, Australia in 2007. The band is currently based in Sydney. The band is comprised of Stu Hawkins (vocals/keys) Matt Sharp (guitar/vocals) and Phil Stevens (drums/vocals). Matt Hann has also been playing bass with them recently in their live shows. They released a 5 track ep 'sounds like freedom' in 2007, and since have released two singles "Smaller Skies" in 2008 and "oxyMORON" in 2009 as well as two christmas recordings "ding dong drummer boy" and "oh holy night" There is also another band called 1159 with a song called witness, that song doesn't belong to the Sydney band, but no other information about that band is known at present.
